
Multi-Site Director, Before & After School
Job Description
The YMCA of Columbia-Willamette is seeking a Site Director to provide leadership and oversight for licensed school-age childcare programs operating across multiple school locations. This role is ideal for an experienced childcare or youth development professional who enjoys leading teams, supporting safe and high-quality programs, and building strong relationships with families and school partners.
As a Site Director, your work ensures children are safe, supported, and engaged every day while helping families and schools feel confident in their YMCA partnership. You’ll play a key role in delivering consistent, mission-driven programs that strengthen communities.
Position Summary
The Site Director provides operational leadership for assigned YMCA school-age childcare sites. While not stationed at every location at all times, this role ensures programs run safely, remain licensing-compliant, and meet YMCA quality standards.
You will supervise Lead Teachers and program staff, support enrollment and family engagement, maintain strong school partnerships, and ensure consistent practices across sites. This role blends leadership, organization, compliance, and relationship-building in a fast-paced, rewarding environment.

Schedule & Work Structure
- Schedule: Full-time, with weekday hours aligned to school schedules
- Work Environment: Combination of school-based sites and in office administrative work
- Travel: Regular travel between program locations is required
Core Responsibilities
Program Oversight & Operational Leadership
- Provide operational oversight for multiple school-age childcare sites
- Conduct regular site visits to observe program quality and support staff
- Ensure daily operations run smoothly, safely, and consistently
- Support curriculum implementation and continuous program improvement
- Maintain positive, collaborative relationships with school administrators
- Ensure alignment with YMCA HR, financial, and administrative policies
- Maintain accurate program records and monitor budgets and financial activity
Licensing Compliance, Risk Management & Emergency Response
- Ensure programs comply with state childcare licensing regulations and YMCA policies
- Monitor supervision practices, ratios, attendance, and required documentation
- Review incident and accident reports and coordinate follow-up as needed
- Serve as the primary contact for licensing visits and regulatory inquiries
- Ensure sites maintain emergency plans and conduct safety drills
- Train staff on emergency procedures and response roles
- Provide leadership and support communication following serious incidents
Staff Supervision & Workforce Development
- Hire, train, supervise, and support Lead Teachers, Teachers, and Aides
- Provide coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations
- Support staff scheduling, coverage needs, and professional development
- Foster a team culture focused on youth safety, accountability, and collaboration
Behavior Guidance & Youth Support
- Support staff with behavior management and youth guidance strategies
- Review behavior documentation and support appropriate next steps
- Partner with families to implement behavior support plans
- Determine when additional interventions or safety measures are needed
Family Engagement & Community Relationships
- Support strong family engagement and responsive communication
- Partner with Lead Teachers to address parent concerns and escalations
- Represent the YMCA positively within school communities
- Promote a welcoming, inclusive, and mission-driven program experience
Enrollment, Marketing & Culture of Philanthropy
- Support enrollment growth and program sustainability
- Ensure enrollment aligns with licensing capacity requirements
- Promote the YMCA mission and a culture of philanthropy
- Connect families with YMCA programs and financial assistance
Required Qualifications
- Minimum age of 21 years
- Meet all state licensing qualifications for a Program Coordinator in a licensed childcare program including one of the following:
- Associate’s degree in early childhood education, education, human services, or related field
- 240 hours of qualifying experience with school age children
- Step 6 or above on the Oregon Registry
- Evidence of completion of equivalent training
- Minimum one year of experience supervising adults
- Strong knowledge of childcare licensing regulations and youth development best practices
- Current Central Background Registry enrollment, Pediatric and Adult First Aid & CPR Certification, and Food Handler’s card or ability to obtain within required timeframe
- Successful completion of YMCA background check and youth protection requirements
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
