Job Summary: Park Maintenance Workers are responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of a park unit to ensure quality facilities and amenities and a safe environment. This position will also preserve and enhance department assets and ensure quality service and product delivery.
Essential Responsibilities:
Inspect and maintain all equipment and tools related to the performance of job duties.
Maintain park green space by mowing, trimming, fertilization, aerification, seeding, weeding, planting, mulching, irrigation, and more.
Set up and maintain natural or synthetic baseball/softball fields, turf sport fields, and hard surface play courts by industry practices to a standards level for competitive play. Assist with special facilities such as ice rinks, including both natural rinks and rinks with chillers.
Maintain buildings and facilities such as pavilions, shelters, service yards, clubhouses, and pool buildings by performing general cleaning, rental set up, waxing and stripping floors, graffiti removal, inspection, building and repairing picnic tables, and more.
Maintain park roadways, drives, parking lots, and pathways by cold patching, line striping, cleaning catch basins, snow removal, salting, and more.
Maintain and operate a variety of pools, mainly splash pads and wading pools. Assist with deep-well pool preparations and maintenance with some operation when necessary.
Participate on special project teams and community outreach efforts.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Current resident of Wisconsin.
Possession of a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License, able to be maintained throughout employment.
Possession of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Grounds, Landscape, or Park Maintenance experience.
Able to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs.
Willing and able to obtain a Class B CDL within six (6) months of start date.
Willing and able to obtain First Aid and CPR Certification within six (6) months of start date.
Preferred Qualifications:
Possession of an Associate Degree or higher in Parks and Recreation, Horticulture, Agronomy, or Turf Management.
Possession of a Class A CDL.
Possession of a Category 3.0 Pesticide Certification.
