Job Description

About Questrade Questrade Financial Group is Canada's largest independent online brokerage, with over $50 billion in assets under administration. We're the home of Questrade, Questbank, Flexiti, and Mortgages, building an integrated financial platform that gives Canadians a real alternative to traditional institutions. About the Role As a Principal Product Designer on Questbank, you lead design across our consumer banking platform: everyday banking, lending, onboarding, money movement. Questbank isn't a standalone app; it's part of an integrated platform that spans investing, financing, and banking. You'll work across teams and product boundaries to drive design vision across the platform, not just within banking. This is a senior IC role with org-wide influence. You'll partner directly with Product and Engineering leaders to shape what we build, how we build it, and what quality looks like. You'll take on the most complex, ambiguous problems, the ones that span multiple teams and don't have an obvious answer, and bring clarity, direction, and craft. Design here is AI-first. Work starts in Claude and Cursor to map logic and explore directions, moves into Figma for systems and craft, and gets tested with real users. We're looking for someone who already works this way. What You'll Do Lead design on the hardest problems: Own the challenges that don't fit neatly into one squad. Cross-cutting flows, platform-level patterns, and high-stakes product decisions that require both strategic thinking and hands-on craft. Drive design vision across the platform: Work across banking, investing, and financing teams to ensure Questbank delivers a coherent, integrated platform experience, not a collection of disconnected products. Start in AI, finish in Figma: Use Claude and Cursor to map product logic, surface edge cases, and explore directions. Bring validated concepts into Figma for state coverage, system alignment, and production readiness. Partner with Product and Engineering leaders: Influence roadmap decisions, scope tradeoffs, and product strategy. Provide design expertise at the org level, not just the squad level. Elevate the design practice: Raise the bar for quality, process, and craft across the team. Mentor designers through the work: crits, reviews, and direct collaboration, not just feedback from the sidelines. Validate with evidence: Drive research and use data to inform direction. Synthesize findings into clear design rationale that aligns teams and moves decisions forward. What You Need 8+ years of product design experience with increasing scope and influence Strong product thinker. You understand how design drives customer and business outcomes, not just UI Exceptional visual craft and high standards for interaction design, usability, and overall product quality Deep experience working cross-functionally with Product and Engineering leaders. You're a peer at the table, not a service function Systems-minded. You think about scale, consistency, and long-term leverage Strong understanding of how product needs evolve across stages of growth (0→1, 1→10, 10→100) Active use of AI tools like Claude, Cursor, or Figma Make in your design workflow Ability to lead the most ambiguous, complex problems and bring structure, direction, and momentum Strong communicator who can influence decisions, align teams, and articulate the "why" behind design direction A portfolio that demonstrates industry-leading craft, systems thinking, and impact at scale Domain experience in lending, banking, or fintech is a strong asset, but as important is your ability to ramp fast and think like an owner Additional Information… This role requires three days of in-office presence per week for Greater Toronto Area (GTA) residents. For candidates residing outside the GTA, a remote workplace arrangement is available. Compensation Information: Base salary range: $160,000 - $180,000. The final package will be commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location (Canada). Includes a comprehensive benefits plan and a competitive incentive (bonus) program. Sounds like you?
