POSITION SUMMARY
This position serves as a flexible, center-wide support role responsible for covering teacher breaks and lunches, assisting classrooms as needed, and ensuring cleaning and sanitation supplies are stocked and maintained. The role coordinates staff planning and training coverage, provides additional planning support based on classroom needs, assists with monthly staff meetings and partial-day sub requests, and supports health and safety compliance including periodic coordination with the health department. Seasonal duties may include driving field trip vehicles and assembling classroom equipment, making this role essential to maintaining smooth daily operations and overall program quality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Must commit to ongoing Early Childhood Education, as part of your professional development.
Builds strong trusting relationships with children in each classroom
Provide classroom support as needed
Cover staff lunches and breaks
Assist with classroom planning support based on program needs
Coordinate and provide coverage for staff planning and training time
Fill in for partial-day staff absences (float/sub coverage)
Support health and safety compliance
Support the administration team with various tasks
Maintain and stock cleaning and sanitation supplies
Monitor and restock center-wide hygiene resources (sanitizer, soap, paper products)
Support monthly staff meeting setup and breakdown
Compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements
Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of child development and willingness to stay up to date with current best practices
Must demonstrate an interest in young children and a concern for their proper care and well-being
Flexibility to care for children of all ages birth-5 years in inclusive classrooms
Skills and ability to inspire and lead children through a large variety of indoor and outdoor activities
Willingness to engage children in outdoor activities for long periods of time, sometimes in inclement weather including rain, snow, and temperatures as low as 5 degrees (preschool/PreK)
Ability to maintain professional communication with parents, supervisors, co-teachers, and assistants
Ability to work cooperatively with a teaching team to create a safe and cognitively stimulating environment
Experience in environmental education or nature-based preschools preferred
Routine sanitizing and disinfesting of toys and surfaces
Must be able to work in a busy and sometimes stressful atmosphere while maintaining composure and good communication skills
Must register in the PDIS and complete a minimum of 15 clock hours of continuing education each year.
Communicate clearly in English, both verbal / non-verbal, and written
Interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with Steamboat Ski and Resort Company’s Service Excellence standards

Must meet the qualifications for an Assistant Early Childhood Teacher. An Assistant Early Childhood Teacher must meet one of the following qualifications:
1) A minimum of nine months (1,365 hours) of verified experience in the care and supervision of four (4) or more children less than eight (8) years of age who are not related to the individual. Assistant Early Childhood Teachers must be enrolled in and attending the second (2nd) Early Childhood Education course, which will be used as the basis for their qualification for the position of Early Childhood Teacher and Completion of one of the following Early Childhood Education courses with a course grade of “C” or better:
Introduction to Early Childhood Professions; or,
Early Childhood Guidance Strategies for Children or has been issued a Colorado Pyramid Model Training certificate of completion;
2) Completion of two (2) of the department approved Early Childhood Education courses A current Early Childhood Professional Credential Level I or higher in PDIS
Must take Introduction to Early Childhood Professions and Pyramid Training within 6 months of hire
The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation’s hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.
Steamboat Springs area base hourly pay range: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour. Pay is based on your PDIS Early Childhood Professional Credential.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must complete health evaluation signed by physician
Must be able to lift, carry, and position children up to 40 pounds
Must be able to work for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling, talking, and sitting on the floor
Ability to maintain a calm demeanor under stressful situations
