The Equity Private Placements team in Houlihan Lokey is looking to add an experienced Associate to the team in London. The EPP team advise some of the most ambitious private companies on the origination and structuring of private equity capital, including primary & secondary fundraisings, hybrid and structured equity. We operate across multiple geographies including EMEA & the USA, in a range of industries supporting both high-growth disruptors and established market leaders.
As an Associate, you will work directly with senior bankers and clients on landmark transactions across EMEA & the USA, and be a trusted member of the team. Responsibilities:
As an Associate in the team, you will:-
- Support the team in the execution of transactions, raising capital across various equity and equity-linked financing types, applicable across diverse situations including growth capital, direct minority secondary share sale, acquisition financing and recapitalizations for high-growth companies.
- Supervise and support a team of Analysts who are undertaking various workstreams within multiple a deal teams. You are expected to review and contribute to output, including market research, assist in preparing client-ready presentations, financial models and transaction materials, coordinating communications with clients and investors, and taking on meaningful responsibilities during live deals.
Basic Qualifications/ Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have:
- An excellent academic track record and achieved a 2:1 or equivalent degree
- 3-5 years of experience within Private Capital Markets, M&A, Equity Capital Markets, Debt Advisory, Structured/Project Finance within an Investment Bank or Advisory firm
- Buy-side experience advantageous
- Fundamental understanding of financial valuation methodologies, and applications
- Advanced financial modelling and analytical abilities; strong LBO and DCF modelling skills coupled with a strong knowledge and understanding of Excel and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated experience in valuation methodologies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are essential
- Proven ability to persuade and influence others
- A flair for simply communicating complex ideas and stories with data is highly advantageous
- Prior experience supporting and managing more junior team members
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail
- A strong work ethic, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and workstreams simultaneously while maintaining excellent attention to detail and a desire to take the initiative
- Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills, with the ability to work through key assumptions, implicit caveats and limitations
- The ability to work well in a team-oriented environment, building effective relationships with multiple stakeholders internally and externally
- The motivation to work in a collaborative, rapidly changing, demanding but ultimately rewarding environment
