Job Description
PRODUCTION OPERATOR
The Production Operator will report to the Plant Manager and will work in the production area blending powders. Production Operators have Union Hourly employee responsibilities including production, quality, maintenance, and health and safety.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Blend finished products by pneumatically transferring raw materials to a mixing vessel.
Hooking and unhooking hoses.
Ship and receive.
Operate forklift, shunt trucks and scissor lift.
Work at heights using fall protection.
Must know how to SAFELY operate all equipment used in the production area.
Handle hazardous materials.
Maintain production at peak performance.
Be well versed and follow SOP’s for all production operations.
Operate control panels.
Sample finished product.
Record daily production.
Assist with training of new employees.
Must ALWAYS be safety conscious when performing all duties.
Perform general housekeeping.
Shift work is required.
Evaluate raw materials and finished products to internal and/or customer specifications.
Report any non-conformities to management.
Review and audit production records.
Assist in investigation of customer complaints.
Maintain written quality records.
Maintain lab equipment.
Must be able to communicate both written and verbally with management.
Perform preventative maintenance inspections.
Perform minor maintenance.
Effectively handle small tools.
Maintain and clean tools and equipment.
Other duties as required when directed by plant management.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Previous experience operating forklift, shunt truck and scissor lift
Must have basic math skills
Must have both verbal and written communication skills
Capable of working in a team and independently
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Required to stand, walk and climb; have mobility of hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear
Frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be capable of maneuvering heavy items.
Specific vision abilities requires by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places and outside weather conditions.
Exposed to airborne particles.
Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
This is a full-time position. However, it is not a guarantee of employment. Management establishes hours of work. Employee must be punctual and dependable. Position requires open communications between employee and management team.
