Job Description

Position Title: SmartLife and Mobile Hub Coordinator-Saskatchewan

Location: Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

Reports To: Manager, Programs and Operations

I. Scope and Summary of Primary Responsibilities

We’re looking for a mission-driven SmartLife and Mobile Hub Coordinator 

who is passionate about creating more accessible, inclusive, and equitable communities across Canada where people with low vision have unlimited opportunities and can experience life free from barriers and discrimination. 

This role is not merely about retail or coordination; it is about acting as a strategic bridge between life-changing technology and the individuals who need it most.

II. Essential Functions

The position entails, but is not limited to the following general responsibilities:

SmartLife and Technical Proficiency

  • Having a critical assessment of the current portfolio of products, technologies, and services offered through the CNIB Client Experience Centre. 
  • Assisting participants in navigating the SmartLife e-commerce site. 
    • Handling of SmartLife Center daily consumer transactions which include: Consumer inquiries; in-person, phone, or email 
    • Scheduling and managing consumer consultations for Smartlife Solutions 
    • Consumer payment transactions through CNIB’s Point-of-Sale System 
    • Triaging and aiding in troubleshooting defective products with consumers 
    • Management of inventory, re-ordering, stock 
    • Fulfillment of consumer orders based on 3rd party product recommendation and authorization forms.
  • Inventory & Fulfillment: Success requires meticulous management of local stock, processing remote orders, and documenting stock movements accurately.
  • Administrative Accuracy: You will handle sensitive tasks such as verifying legal blindness for CNIB Cards, processing provincial funding applications (SAIL, NIHB), and managing bank deposits.

  • Exceptional Patience: You will often teach older adults or individuals newly experiencing sight loss; this requires clear verbal communication and the ability to adapt your teaching style to the user's level of vision.
  • Active Listening: Rather than focusing on a "sale," you must listen to understand a client's lived experience to suggest the most appropriate tools or internal referrals.

Creating and leading an amazing team: 

  • Recruit, train and engage a team of volunteers who will deliver programs across Saskatchewan
  • Help make CNIB the organization of choice for volunteers – promoting our commitment to volunteer engagement at every opportunity and developing the active volunteer base needed to support local operations.
  • Develop and foster an inclusive, empowered culture where every team member – staff and volunteer – feels their contributions towards our mission are equally valued and respected.
  • Lead by example in bringing our values to life – working with passion, determination, ambition and a positive spirit to change people’s lives, and society itself. 
  • Ensure understanding of, and compliance with, all CNIB's policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the project work for a volunteer, intern or summer student as it relates to foundation programming, as needed. 

Developing, delivering and monitoring best-in-class programs:

  • Working within national service delivery standards and program curricula, you will plan, implement and grow programs
  • Lead and manage outcome evaluation processes for programs, using a national and local framework.
  • Constantly seek opportunities to improve service delivery metrics and participant outcomes, leveraging available evaluation data for your region. 
  • Keep abreast of best practices and new developments in programming for people who are blind or partially sighted and proactively bring forward ideas on how to improve all aspects of the work we do. 
  • End-to-End Event Planning - Oversee the full lifecycle of "Mobile Hub" events, from selecting accessible venues to coordinating travel logistics and vehicle rentals.

III. Qualifications

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

Leadership & Relationship Management

  • Volunteer engagement and staff leadership experience. 
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills, with the ability to plan and deliver clear communications to a dispersed audience. 
  • Good relationship/team builder and networking skills with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Demonstrates mature and sensitive nature when dealing with the needs of persons living with vision loss. 
  • Portrays an appropriate professional image. 

Program Delivery & Training

  • Experience in developing and delivering training workshops and presentations. 
  • Proven record of positive delivery of customer-focused initiatives and/or services. 
  • Strong understanding of and demonstrated track record of product sales and customer service provision. 

Planning, Organization & Project Management

  • Proven time management, program planning, coordination, and organizational skills; proactive in initiating multiple projects on an ongoing basis. 
  • Organizational and planning skills to work to concurrent and/or conflicting deadlines. 
  • Professional attitude; results-oriented, strategic, and flexible. 

Technical & Systems Knowledge

  • Strong proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications. 
  • Knowledge of Salesforce and Shopify Point-of-Sale considered an asset. 

Accessibility & Assistive Technology

  • Knowledge in accessibility and assistive technologies. 
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset. 

Problem Solving & Analytical Skills

  • Excellent analytical, problem definition, and problem-solving skills.

Experience and Education

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field and/or relevant experience and transferrable skills 
  • 3 years’ experience with accessible and assistive technologies, program development and implementation, retail sales, and excellent customer service provision. 
  • Personal and/or professional experience relating to blindness and vision loss and associated assistive technologies. 
  • Experience in developing service delivery models
  • Experience in delivering training workshops and devising and delivering presentations

Work Environment

  • Willingness to work flexible hours

  • Travel required
