
Reliability Maintenance Engineer
Job Description
As a Reliability Maintenance Engineer, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve equipment reliability, asset performance, and overall mill uptime. This role provides both technical engineering support and hands-on maintenance leadership to mill operations and maintenance teams. You will play a key role in developing and optimizing reliability-centered maintenance strategies, supporting capital projects, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and enhancing preventative and predictive maintenance programs across mill assets.
- Demonstrate strong safety leadership and ensure compliance with all mill safety policies, procedures, and standards at all times.
- Lead and participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations to identify equipment reliability issues and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Monitor, analyze, and improve equipment performance metrics including Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), downtime, and maintenance costs.
- Support and represent Maintenance and Reliability interests on capital and improvement projects from design through commissioning.
- Develop, optimize, and manage preventative and predictive maintenance programs, including PM creation, updates, continuous improvement, and maintenance strategy development.
- Provide technical troubleshooting and hands-on support for complex equipment failures and maintenance activities.
- Coordinate and manage maintenance activities during major mill shutdowns and outage work scopes.
- Support asset management systems and CMMS administration, including equipment hierarchy, asset integrity, and maintenance data accuracy.
- Manage and optimize Bills of Material (BOMs) and spare parts inventory to ensure critical equipment reliability and inventory control.
- Assist with maintenance budgeting, cost forecasting, and cost control initiatives for maintenance and reliability projects.
- Review, track, and analyze maintenance and project costs to support operational efficiency and long-term asset reliability.
- Work closely with Operations, Engineering, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Mechanical teams to drive reliability improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in maintenance engineering, reliability engineering, or industrial maintenance leadership roles.
- Experience in pulp and paper, kraft mill, or heavy industrial environments considered a strong asset.
- Strong understanding of preventative, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance practices.
- Experience with Root Cause Analysis, vibration analysis, condition monitoring, or reliability improvement methodologies is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities in a fast-paced industrial environment.
- Proficient in CMMS systems, maintenance planning, and asset management practices.
- High attention to detail with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
