Job Description

Come and join the team at Port Headland as a full-time laboratory supervisor. 

FIFO 2 weeks on/2weeks off - 12hrs shift

Salary: $90k - $96k per annum

Duties include, however not limited to:

  • Responsible for supervision of laboratory staff, function & customer service. 
  • Supervision of all areas of the laboratory
  • Fairly delegate tasks to the team of sample preparation and laboratory technicians on a daily basis
  • Monitor productivity of the laboratory and ensure all samples are progressing through the laboratory in a timely manner
  • Monitor and report consumable stockholding of the laboratory on a weekly basis
  • Inform manager when consumables need to be ordered
  • Arrange for return of samples and waste materials to clients (if required) timeously and following the correct procedures
  • Ensure all staff are following Health and Safety procedures in all areas of the laboratory 
  • Assist with sorting preparation and reading of samples when required
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records pertaining to sample submission, sample preparation progress and archiving of samples
  • Ensure all results are sent out to clients on time and in accordance with their contracts
  • Ensure all laboratory work areas are kept clean, functional and uncontaminated and equipment is in working order
  • Perform general administrative support duties, as required
  • Responsible for managing a team to ensure performance outcomes are aligned with business goals. 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Successfully complete the Schedule 26 Statutory Supervisor examination in accordance with the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations and accept appointment as a Statutory Supervisor. 
  • Diploma of Laboratory Technology
  • Understanding Analytical procedures
  • Understanding of sample preparation procedures
  • Familiarity with CCLAS & G6
