Job Summary:  The Mail Center Lead is responsible for assisting the Mail Center Supervisor with the daily logistics and administrative operations of the department. This role acts as the “go-to” resource and provides guidance to staff on hands-on execution of all mail center duties. The Team Lead ensures seamless workflow continuity, acts as a primary resource for team questions, and steps in to maintain operational excellence in the supervisor's absence.

Principal Duties:

  • Efficiently sort and deliver incoming mail and packages to all designated corporate locations. Coordinate normal daily operations, including mail pickup, delivery, package shipping, weekly POS store distribution preparation and execution. 
  • Oversee the weekly store routing process across the Mid-Atlantic region. Perform route adjustments for new store openings, closings, as well as temporary logistic changes.
  • Act as the daily "go-to" resource for team members, providing guidance and answering operational questions. Assist the Mail Center Supervisor with onboarding and training staff, ensuring adherence to Wawa safety and efficiency standards.
  • Reconcile, generate, and record daily USPS postage meter totals. Maintain, and digitally archive weekly meter reports / data. 
  • Contribute to identifying and executing cost-reduction opportunities, championing best practices for economical shipping and vendor usage.
  • Perform ordering and distribution activities for corporate beverage and coffee programs.  Maintain stock levels of coffee, creamers, and associated accessories across Red Roof, Blossom Hill, and University locations. Oversee general Mail Center office supply inventories.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the Mail Center Supervisor’s administrative duties. Manage department payroll tracking and fill in as operational lead during the supervisor's scheduled absences.
  • Support Wawa’s community initiatives by ordering, preparing, and packing cases of coffee and cups for overseas deployment to military troops, including completing all required USPS customs and shipping documentation.
  • Maintain Mail Center vehicles by refueling and conducting bi-weekly safety inspections to ensure secure and efficient operational readiness.
  • Act as the primary backup to the Print Production Specialist, providing coverage for scheduled absences or additional support
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to work well individually as well as in a team environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills paired with an excellent customer-service mindset for interacting with corporate associates and vendors.
  • High level of self-motivation and the ability to execute tasks with minimal to no direct supervision.
  • Detail oriented and good organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Must be able to perform the following physical behaviors repetitively: reaching above the shoulder, standing, walking, handling, reaching horizontally and grasping firmly
  • Must be able to perform the following physical behaviors frequently: reaching below the waist, pushing buttons, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling and pushing
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs repetitively
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs occasionally with assistance from team
  • Must be able to push up to 100 lbs frequently

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous formal/informal leadership experience preferred
  • Previous experience in a corporate mail center, shipping/receiving, or distribution environment preferred
