Job Description
Job Summary
The Paint Line & Coating Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all daily operations within the paint and coating department, including pretreatment, powder coating, wet paint application, curing, and final inspection. This role ensures production schedules are met while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong experience in industrial coating processes, employee supervision, and continuous improvement
Primary Responsibilities
Supervise and lead paint line employees, material handlers, and support staff
Coordinate daily production activities to meet customer deadlines and production targets
Monitor paint processes to ensure proper application and finish quality
Oversee pretreatment, curing ovens, and coating thickness requirements
Paint processes and tooling, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Train employees on standard work, safety procedures, and quality expectations
Collaborate with Maintenance, Quality, and Production teams to resolve equipment and process issues
Analyze performance metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives
Complete production reports, attendance tracking, and performance documentation
Meets regularly on a formal basis with Management Team to review production results and improvement priorities.
Evaluates interpersonal skills, provides feedback and recommends as well as methods to improve interpersonal communications.
Schedules and assigns personnel to work according to the demand of the manufacturing schedules.
Production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture, assembly and distribution of goods.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
5+ years of experience in automotive painting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
Familiarity with OEM paint standards and procedures.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents, color codes, and safety data sheets.
Leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Basic computer skills for reporting and inventory management.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods on concrete surfaces
Frequent movement, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs
Ability to work around paint booths, ovens, conveyors, and chemical systems
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment
Work Environment
Manufacturing/production facility environment
Moderate to high noise levels
May be exposed to extreme heat in certain production areas
Requires adherence to strict safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
