Job Description
Assists Plant Manager in directing production, distribution, and operations by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors:
Principal Responsibilities:
Implements manufacturing operations business plans to include all program requirements, employee safety, environmental compliance, image, labor hours, cycle, production costs and capital improvements.
Ensures all established costs, quality, and delivery commitments are met.
Obtains data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
Provides guidance to the development of a manufacturing plan, including personnel requirements, material needs, subcontract requirements, facility needs, and tooling and equipment needs and maintenance requirements.
Coordinates manufacturing activities with all other functions of the organization and suppliers to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
Performs administrative activities associated with the effective management of operations, including compiling, storing, and retrieving production data for reports.
Assists with training and ensuring all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company, government, and customer policies, procedures, and regulations.
Develops employees to maximize their potential.
Works with plant manager to establish budget, and reviews budget on ongoing basis.
Participates and contributes to company safety program.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Management duties include supervision of exempt and/or non-exempt staff. This includes but is not limited to, conducting performance evaluations and improvement plans, approving paid time-off (PTO), assigning or delegating work, providing on-the-job training, giving guidance to staff, taking disciplinary action, and interviewing candidates for open positions.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: Supervisory experience in wood products and other manufacturing environments
License/Certification: NA
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and practical experience of lean manufacturing methods
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
General experience in manufacturing, quality control, safety, and production processes.
Possess strong Management, Planning, Leadership and Communication Skills, and Human relation skills – coaching, team building, and conflict resolution
Strong ability to manage multiple demands, set priorities, identify and address problems, meet deadlines and manage plant safety orientation.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of email, spreadsheet software, database software, word processing software, and presentation software.
