
Director, Strategic Planning - Evernorth
Job Description
SUMMARY:
Leads a team responsible for evaluating and advancing enterprise and business-specific strategic initiatives. Provides data-driven insights and recommendations to senior leadership to inform strategic direction, business model evolution, and portfolio decisions across Evernorth and The Cigna Group.
Partners cross-functionally to assess complex opportunities, quantify impact, and enable leadership decision-making.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leads evaluation of complex, cross-business strategic initiatives, including growth strategy, monetization, portfolio optimization, and regulatory impacts
Develops executive-ready recommendations, including options, trade-offs, and risks
Supports development of long-term strategy for priority businesses and enterprise initiatives
Leads business case development, scenario analysis, and market assessments
Evaluates enterprise implications of market, regulatory, and competitive dynamics
Leads and develops a team of senior individual contributors; manages prioritization and deliverables
Partners with cross-functional stakeholders to align on strategic recommendations
Influences senior leadership decisions in a highly matrixed environment
IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE A COMBINATION OF THE FOLLOWING:
Bachelor’s degree
10+ years strategy, consulting, or healthcare business leadership experience in the healthcare industry
Experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and executive communication skills
Experience influencing stakeholders in a matrixed organization
Prior people leadership experience
Healthcare services, payer/provider, or network strategy experience
Experience evaluating regulatory or policy-driven business impacts
