Job Description
Position Summary
The Electrical Apprentice is an entry level trainee who assists licensed electrical technicians in performing electrical installation, repair, and maintenance tasks across water infrastructure facilities such as pump stations, treatment plants, distribution systems, and related equipment. Applicants must be committed to 4 years of on-the-job training and classroom instruction to gain the skills needed to become a licensed journeyman.
Key Responsibilities
Assisting Electricians/Technicians: Handing tools, setting up equipment, and following direct instructions.
Running Wires: Pulling electrical cables through walls, ceilings, and conduit.
Bending Conduit: Measuring and shaping metal or plastic pipes that protect wires.
Installing Fixtures: Mounting outlets, switches, light fixtures, and breaker panels.
Job Site Prep: Clearing work areas, cleaning up debris, and organizing materials.
Safety Compliance: Following strict local and national safety codes to prevent hazards.
Operate Equipment: skid steer, mini-excavator, and backhoe experience necessary
Physical and Environmental Demands
May work in uncomfortable spaces (underground vaults and towers)
Standing for long periods and lifting heavy materials.
Working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Climbing ladders, scaffolding, and operating lifts at varying heights.
Operate a skid steer, mini-excavator, backhoe.
Capabilities
Must be able to follow directions.
Must be able to learn and pick up tasks quickly.
Must be able to learn and follow all safety protocols.
Must be able to learn and follow National Electrical Code
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Experience in electrical work or industrial maintenance preferred.
Basic understanding of electrical tools and safety practices.
Possession of a valid driver's license and dependable transportation for inter-site travel.

Work Environment
Work is performed in water treatment plants, pump stations, outdoor facilities, and equipment rooms with exposure to noise, chemicals, and electrical systems. PPE is always required.
