Manufacturing Leader – Center of Excellence (COE) of Fabrication Shop
Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the creation & implementation of best practices and manufacturing vision, strategy, objectives, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
- Identify business improvement opportunities within the organisation.
- Develop, implement, and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility.
- Effectively and efficiently manage the production of the required daily/weekly/monthly targets in line with customer specifications, meeting quality and delivery expectations, minimising costs where possible and ensure the required best working practices are always maintained.
- Responsible for Fabrication shop production, financial performance, meeting customer requirements and maintaining the orderly and productive operation of planned activities.
- Monitor production processes to ensure efficiency, productivity, and profitability targets are consistently met or exceeded.
- Implement and enforce Built in Quality measures to ensure that manufactured products meet or exceed customer expectations and industry standards.
- Identify and deploy the technical skill sets, resource levels and systems to deliver projects, including the engagement of external resources as required.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless coordination and communication throughout the manufacturing process.
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement Lean principles to optimize production workflows, reduce costs, and increase operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, industry standards, and quality management systems, such as ISO certifications.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in manufacturing, and actively seek opportunities to leverage new technologies or methodologies to improve manufacturing processes.
- Manage, coach, and develop a high performing manufacturing team that meets agreed objectives, and which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements.
- Manage and lead the team, ensuring adequate staffing levels, managing recruitment, training, development, appraisal, attendance, disciplinary issues, and daily supervision to maximise efficient productivity.
- Prepare the annual Manufacturing budget and forecasts and all Capital Expenditure proposals as well as ensuring compliance with legal standards. Manage the budget from identification to completion of projects.
- Ability to adapt to fast-paced and changing environments, and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing principles, processes, and technologies using, lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyse complex issues and implement effective solutions.
- Can lead Qualification for Nuclear new product - Assessment of our capability & capacity, Product qualification, Skill gap, Competency Development & Knowledge transfer.
Expansion Projects: Capacity Growth and Capability Development:
In addition to overseeing fabrication shop manufacturing operations, the Manufacturing Manager will be responsible for managing new facility expansions, establishing and leading the training center, training and developing all new employees, and ensuring the qualification and validation of personnel, machinery, and products in accordance with company and quality standards.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Maintenance teams to ensure successful startup of new production areas.
- Develop and implement training programs, competency matrices, and skill certification processes for all new employees.
- Establish and manage a structured training center to support workforce development and continuous learning initiatives.
- Ensure qualification and validation of personnel, equipment, processes, and products prior to production release.
- Define manpower requirements and support recruitment, onboarding, and workforce readiness for expansion projects.
- Drive standardization of manufacturing processes, work instructions, and best practices across existing and new facilities.
- Monitor training effectiveness and competency levels to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and operational requirements.
- Support introduction of new products, technologies, and manufacturing capabilities through appropriate qualification and validation activities.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, regulatory standards, and applicable industry best practices.
- Develop succession plans and talent development programs to build a sustainable and highly skilled manufacturing workforce.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for training, qualification, productivity, and expansion project milestones, and report progress to senior management.
Desired Skill set:
- Strong track record of successfully managing heavy machining and assembly manufacturing operations, preferably within a complex and highly regulated industry.
- Technical Expertise in Steam turbine product line
- Experience in implementing lean manufacturing principles and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Excellent knowledge of manufacturing processes, technologies, and best practices.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and developing a high-performing manufacturing team.
- Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and manufacturing software systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication & presentation skills.

Required Qualifications:
- BE/ B. Tech/Diploma in Mechanical/Fabrication with 15+ years of experience.
- Knowledge of fabrication and welding processes
- Experience in heavy fabrication and assembly
- Basic Knowledge of Heat treatment processes
- Understanding of safe practice and risk related welding process and EHS requirements
- Proper understand a Welding document like, WPS, Welding book & Welding sketch/types of welding joints (Geometry and Symbols) and different positions
- Knowledge of GMAW Welding Process
- Knowledge of SAW Welding Process.
- Good knowledge of welding sequence for control a distortion during welding.
- Knowledge of inspection requirements and welding quality/defects impacts, visual inspection criteria
- Knowledge of defect/discontinuity of fabrication processes
