Job Description
- Academic Dean Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist faculty in data-driven goal setting.
- Work with faculty to unpack and analyze standards.
- Assist faculty in aligning objectives to standards, designing lesson plans, and tuning lesson plans.
- Work with faculty to assess student work and adhere to grading policies.
- Work with counselor to develop academic plans for students to aid their progress towards graduation.
- Collect, analyze, and disaggregate data and work with administration and staff to use that data to develop interventions, re-teaching strategies, and instructional practices to raise advanced academic achievement scores.
- Coordinate curriculum resources, including managing instructional materials.
- Assist administrator, counselor, and department heads in designing the master course schedule.
- Attend campus or district meetings and professional development training as directed.
- Assist with coordinating the student assessment program.
- Promote collegiality and team building throughout the community.
- Assist in designing and providing professional development based on data analysis and campus needs.
- Work with counselors in creating and maintaining the course catalog.
- Collaborate with instructional staff to vertically and horizontally align the curriculum and
instructional practices. - Assist in developing, implementing, and assessing the Campus Improvement Plan.
- Assist with school-wide and event supervision.
- Assist teachers in developing and maintaining appropriate and effective teaching methods.
- Collaborate with administrative leadership team district-wide, initiate a strong sense of team and serve on committees as appropriate.
- Plan and implement appropriate professional learning as it relates to the district's continuous improvement plan (90 day plan).
- Clearly communicate the district's vision and mission to your school community and maintain a positive school climate while maintaining staff accountability.
- Serve as a resource to staff in dealing with classroom management issues.
- Support the principal in leading the implementation of the school improvement plan.
- Comply with applicable district, state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education and Experience
Required
- A master's degree in Education
- A valid New Mexico administrative license
- Minimum of five (5) years of professional teaching experience at the secondary level
- Must be able to pass employment verification.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
