The opportunity

As an Investment Analyst in the Natural Resources (“NR”) team within the Infrastructure and Natural Resources (“INR”) group, you will have a key role in analyzing potential private investment opportunities, executing transactions and working with existing portfolio companies to craft strategy and implement value-enhancing initiatives.

Who You’ll Work With

You will be joining our Toronto office, where you will work in a dynamic team-based environment, directly supporting senior team members in metals and mining, and other natural resources, across geographic regions. You will have the chance to define and differentiate yourself as an investor and build strategic relationships within the global market.

INR consists of a team of ~65 highly-specialized private equity investment professionals, with offices in Toronto, London, Singapore and Mumbai, and an additional presence in Santiago, Chile. INR leads a geographically diverse portfolio with approximately C$47 billion of net assets in North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

The NR group is a specialized private investments group with approximately C$12 billion of assets as of December 31, 2025. NR owns and manages investments in mining, energy, timberland, agriculture and natural climate solution sectors, located in North America, Latin America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. The NR portfolio contributes real returns, income, inflation protection and portfolio diversification to the overall investment portfolio of Ontario Teachers’.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and employ financial modeling tools to analyze investment opportunities;
  • Assist in the due diligence process and leading the valuation workstream and incorporate the findings into a financial model;
  • Identify key value drivers and financial risks and perform related financial sensitivity and scenario analysis;
  • Work closely with external advisors, consultants and partners to assess risks and submit bids under tight timelines;
  • Prepare presentations, reports, and investment recommendations to senior management and, where applicable, the Board of OTPP;
  • Review and analyze financial reports, budgets, board books and other information prepared by management of our portfolio companies;
  • Work with portfolio company management to build and maintain financial models that are used to analyze strategic issues and value the company;
  • Support internal strategic project initiatives, and the preparation of internal reporting materials including annual valuations across the team’s portfolio of assets

What You’ll Need

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience, preferably in investment banking, principal investing, or mergers & acquisitions advisory
  • Direct experience with Natural Resource linked industries (especially metals & mining) and a clear understanding of commodity fundamentals
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Strong financial modelling and valuation skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence others and comfortably presenting to senior audiences
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills and ability to perform in-depth, creative, critical analysis
  • Ability and desire to work in a vigorous, fast-paced environment, and balance multiple priorities under demanding timelines, while remaining detail oriented
  • A proactive attitude and drive to deliver value in a team of highly self-motivated investment professionals
  • Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint
  • A willingness and ability to travel

What we’re offering

Pay-for-performance with base salary and annual incentive based on individual and enterprise performance. The Base salary for this level is $115,000 in Year 1 and $125,000 in Year 2. Individual compensation and placement of this role in the range is based on different factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, demonstrated competencies, and internal equity as they relate to the role.
