State Manager, Club Marine – Commercial – Gold Coast, QLD

About the role

 

The State Manager, Club Marine will be responsible for leading the State's Underwriting and Account Management functions to deliver on our Profit, Revenue, and People targets. They will serve as the benchmark for excellence in our partner and customer relationships, while operating within the organisation's risk and compliance framework.

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Lead state functions to deliver professional service standards, drive sustainable profitable growth, and achieve GWP budgets and annual sales targets.
  • Execute Account sales plans and business model frameworks, leveraging customer insights to continuously improve the Account experience and maximise account potential across the state.
  • Develop and manage Partner relationships through agreed strategies and action plans, monitoring performance against operational benchmarks and ensuring all compliance and supervision obligations are met.
  • Identify market trends, competitor intelligence and customer needs to inform business decisions, uncover new opportunities, and grow existing accounts within the assigned territory.
  • Support underwriting decisions aligned to risk appetite, profile and financial targets, while managing business performance against sales targets and expense budgets.
  • Drive macro-level initiatives including performance measurement frameworks, incentive programs, reporting structures, and local marketing activities such as sponsorships and events.
  • Lead and develop teams across the state, fostering high performance and ensuring consistent delivery against people, revenue and profitability targets.

 

About you

 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

 

  • Proven leadership experience in insurance or a relevant industry, with a track record of building and driving high-performing teams.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to interpret market trends, competitor intelligence and risk dynamics to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Strategic sales capability, including business planning, negotiation, and the ability to influence and persuade stakeholders at all levels.
  • Sound technical knowledge of relevant insurance products, associated legislation, and the ability to measure, analyse and report on financial metrics and performance data.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information with clarity, confidence and influence across diverse audiences.
  • A proactive relationship builder with the ability to cultivate and leverage professional networks, identify process improvements, and drive outcomes that enhance business performance.
