Job Description
U.S. Bank’s Housing Capital Group, a specialized division within Commercial Real Estate, is seeking an experienced Senior Relationship Manager to manage and grow a portfolio of large private and regional homebuilders.
This role is focused on supporting homebuilder clients across the United States, with a primary emphasis on the Houston market, and requires a strong blend of client relationship management, business development, and credit expertise.
Position Summary
The Senior Relationship Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of homebuilder clients, responsible for driving revenue growth, originating new business, and managing complex credit relationships.
This is a highly client-facing, sales-oriented role with responsibility for both maintaining an existing book of business and proactively identifying new opportunities. The position operates in a dynamic lending environment, supporting construction financing and borrowing-base lines of credit tailored specifically to homebuilder clients.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management
- Serve as the lead relationship manager for a portfolio of large private and regional homebuilders
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor
- Understand clients’ evolving credit and banking needs and deliver tailored solutions
- Represent U.S. Bank within the homebuilder and real estate community
Business Development & Origination
- Drive revenue growth through both existing client expansion and new client acquisition
- Originate new lending opportunities, primarily focused on:
- Construction financing
- Borrowing-base / line-of-credit structures
- Identify and execute cross-sell opportunities across banking products and services
Portfolio Management
- Inherit and actively manage an existing portfolio of client relationships
- Oversee a dynamic portfolio of lending relationships with frequent collateral and borrowing-base activity
- Ensure ongoing portfolio performance, client satisfaction, and risk management
Credit & Underwriting Partnership
- Partner closely with credit teams to structure, negotiate, and execute transactions
- Maintain a strong understanding of homebuilder-specific underwriting practices
- Participate in the credit approval process and manage deal execution from origination through closing
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with key internal partners, including:
- Credit (daily interaction)
- Treasury Management and Deposits
- Syndications
- Wealth Management
- Facilitate introductions and solutions that enhance the overall client relationship
Market Engagement
- Actively participate in industry events and networking opportunities
- Maintain awareness of market trends within the homebuilding sector
- Serve as a visible and engaged representative of the bank in the local market
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in finance, accounting or other related field
- Five or more years of commercial real estate experience
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Five or more years of homebuilder finance experience, specifically in underwriting construction loans and secured and unsecured borrowing base facilities.
- Advanced knowledge and experience in commercial real estate loan origination and portfolio management.
- Proven business development and strategic management skills
- Experience with driving successful internal partnerships with deposit/treasury management and payment solutions, syndications, wealth management, etc.
- Strong leadership and strategic management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Well-developed analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Salesforce and nCino experience a plus
- Significant experience in homebuilder finance or lending
- Proven background in relationship management, business development, or lending roles
- Strong credit and underwriting knowledge, particularly within homebuilder or residential development financing
- Demonstrated ability to originate and grow client relationships
- Experience working with borrowing-base or line-of-credit structures
Location expectations
This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week. This position is located in the Houston (Katy) office.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $149,515.00 - $175,900.00U.S. Bank will consider qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records for employment.
