Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and specialized coating testing (e.g., adhesion, corrosion resistance, durability, viscosity) following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and document test data accurately in lab records.
- Assist in coating formulation trials, raw material sampling, and sample preparation to support new product development and existing product improvement.
- Maintain lab equipment (e.g., coating applicators, testing instruments, analytical tools) through regular calibration, cleaning, and troubleshooting to ensure operational reliability.
- Strictly adhere to EHS regulations and lab safety protocols, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals/materials to maintain a safe working environment. Follow safety requirements and wear necessary PPE when working in the lab.
- Manage lab inventory of raw materials, consumables, and testing supplies; track stock levels and initiate replenishment requests as needed.
- Update and maintain detailed, organized lab documentation (test reports, SOPs, equipment logs) to ensure data integrity and regulatory compliance.
- Comply with the official quality certifications e.g. ISO 9001:2015 standards, 5S requirement etc.
- Develop knowledge about Synthomer products and application in the relevant fields through training and on-the-job learning activities.
- Support sample dispatching as required
- Other work assigned by supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum technical colleague degree; at least 3 years working experience in a water-based coating lab, knowledge with water-based industry coatings such as intumescent coating, DTM coatings or powder coatings is an advantage.
- Experience with the lab equipment maintenance experience is a plus
- Logical thinker, highly motivated and hardworking, strong willingness and ability to learn
- Good spoken and written English skill is a plus
