THE DIRECTOR OF CLUB OPERATIONS OPPORTUNITY AT BARTON CREEK COUNTRY CLUB
Barton Creek Country Club in Austin, Texas, is seeking a Director of Operations who brings exceptional leadership, strong operational expertise, and a passion for delivering an elevated private club experience. The ideal candidate is a highly visible, engaging, and polished hospitality professional with a proven ability to lead diverse teams and execute at a high level across multiple departments.
This role is integral to the success of one of Texas’ premier private club environments, overseeing key operational areas of Barton Creek Country Club including Housekeeping, Kids Club, Fitness, Health Club Locker Facilities, Pool Operations & Swim Club, and Racquets Pro Shop. The Director of Operations will partner closely with Club leadership to ensure alignment across all facets of these operations, while continuously enhancing the member and guest experience through consistency, attention to detail, and strong execution.
Barton Creek Country Club operates as part of the Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa. In addition to serving its membership, the Club supports resort guests who utilize golf, fitness, racquets, and select Club amenities. This role plays a key part in ensuring a seamless and consistent experience across both member and resort guest usage.
While not directly responsible for Food & Beverage, the Director of Operations will maintain a general awareness of F&B service and presentation as part of the overall Club experience, offering perspective when appropriate to support consistency across the property.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong financial acumen, leadership presence, and the ability to inspire teams while maintaining a culture rooted in service excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Member & Guest Experience
Maintain a highly visible presence throughout the Club, actively engaging with members and resort guests
Foster a culture of hospitality that consistently exceeds expectations
Ensure all areas deliver a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment
Support a seamless experience across member and resort guest usage
Respond promptly and effectively to feedback and opportunities for improvement
Leadership & Team Development
Lead, mentor, and develop department leaders across Barton Creek Country Club Housekeeping, Kids Club, Fitness, Health Club Locker Facilities, Pool Operations, Swim Club, and Racquets Shop
Partner with Human Resources to recruit, train, and retain top talent
Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and professional growth
Serve as a key advocate for training and development, reinforcing a culture aligned with Forbes service standards
Operational Excellence
Oversee daily operations to ensure consistency in service delivery across all assigned areas
Establish and reinforce standards for cleanliness, safety, and presentation
Drive improvements in programming, staffing, and member engagement
Ensure adherence to Club standards, policies, and operational objectives
Demonstrate expertise in Club and resort software systems, ensuring effective utilization, training, and accountability across all departments
Act as an integral part of Omni processes, ensuring alignment with company standards, reporting, and operational workflows
Financial Management
Support the development and execution of operating and capital budgets within areas of responsibility
Monitor performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement
Work collaboratively with leadership to manage expenses and improve operational efficiency
INITIAL PRIORITIES OF THE ROLE
Build strong relationships with members and team members through visibility and engagement
Evaluate and elevate cleanliness, service standards, and consistency across all operational areas
Align departmental leaders around clear expectations and accountability
Strengthen communication and collaboration across all areas of the Club
Identify quick wins that enhance the overall member and guest experience
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
5 - 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in a private club, resort, or high-end hospitality environment
Proven success managing multi-dimensional operations
Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
Financial acumen with experience in budgeting and performance management
A visible, hands-on leadership style with a commitment to excellence
Demonstrated proficiency in hospitality and club management systems, with the ability to lead training and adoption across teams
Experience working within structured brand standards and service environments such as Forbes Travel Guide is strongly preferred
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree preferred (Hospitality Management or related field)
CCM or other industry certifications are a plus
