We are currently hiring for the role of Field Service Technician II.

 

SUMMARY  

The Field Service Technician II is responsible for installation of system(s), service contracts, ongoing product maintenance, and on-call or as needed repairs within their respective skillset to the customer’s satisfaction. This individual will also be responsible for suggesting system improvements and modifications to customer systems.  Because each project varies significantly, the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems at an advanced level is essential.

The Field Service Technician II primarily spends their time in the field, visiting customers onsite. Field Service Technician II will receive necessary training to achieve mastery in the Field Service Technician II primary skillsets and abilities.  Once a Field Service Technician II achieves a mastery of ALL the described Skillsets and Abilities the opportunity to advance to the Field Service Technician III may be extended  

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Install, set up and calibrate industrial instrumentation, i.e., burners, boilers, HVAC, actuators, etc.
  • Startup equipment to ensure it is fully operational. This involves monitoring, calibrating, tuning, and programming.
  • Review, comprehend and put into use electrical, mechanical and instrumentation drawings.
  • Provide quality control and safety checks for the systems and products.
  • Assist in side-by-side and over the phone training of more junior service technicians.
  • Perform project management responsibilities when assigned, including attending meetings with general contractor, discussing project schedules, and validating safety requirements.
  • Function as Site Manager as needed in addition to performing hands on work. 
  • Delegate responsibilities / tasks when functioning in a project management capacity.
  • Provide clients with recommendations and refer clients back to internal sales department.
  • Complete miscellaneous paperwork, including calibration documents, client service reports, and AC controls field service reports.
  • Troubleshoot procedures and make recommendations.
  • Provide customer follow up to ensure no additional services are necessary. 
  • Attend and complete any required safety training at customer site, i.e., OSHA regulation adherence, forklift, and machinery training.  
  • Provide Customer Service through Verbal and Written Communication Skills including, but not limited to, the Ability to Relate Technical Terminology to Customers, Listen Effectively, and Solicit Input from Others.
  • Perform Demand Service, Preventative / Scheduled Maintenance and Warranty Repairs on Systems.
  • Perform Panel Fabrication, Installation and Termination.
  • Perform Electrical and Light Mechanical Installations Services as Necessary.
  • Perform Installations, Troubleshooting, Repairs, Replacements, and Setup of Instrumentation.
  • Suggest System Improvements, Modifications, etc.
  • Perform Installation and Startup of Complex Systems.
  • Provide On-site Customer Training.
  • Perform Installation of HC900 Databases.
  • Perform Complex Fuel Train and BMS Troubleshooting. 
  • Perform Setup and Tuning Adjustments on Multiple Point type Boiler Combustion Controls.
  • Perform Setup and Tuning on ANY type Burner Control Systems.
  • Supervise Sub-Contractors and Employees.
  • Complete FSR’s to a billable state.
  • Complete customer report documentation for assigned tasks.

  • Strong professional communication skills, written and verbal, required for both internal and external interactions.
  • Field and/or plant experience.

    • Actuator Positioner Installation, Setup and Calibration
    • Electrical Control Drawings Comprehension
    • Mechanical Control Drawings Comprehension
    • P&ID Drawings Comprehension
    • Multimeter Troubleshooting of Electrical Systems
    • ANY Pressure and Temperature Transmitter Setup and Calibration
    • ANY Flowmeter Setup and Calibration
    • ANY Level Transmitter Setup and Calibration
    • ANY Chart and Video Recorder Setup
    • ANY Type Programable Loop Controller Programming and Setup
    • ANY Gas Detection Systems Setup and Testing
    • ANY Heat Trace System(s) Setup and Testing
    • Boiler BMS Systems Setup and Commissioning
    • Burner Setup and Commissioning
    • Boiler Combustion Control Systems Setup and Tuning
    • HVAC Control Systems Setup and Commissioning

 

EDUCATION/TRAINING  

  • 5-7 years related work experience in the listed skillsets.
  • Associates degree in a related technical field or related work experience in the listed skillsets and responsibilities.
  • OSHA Safety Trained ideal.
  • Completed ISA Associate courses, Variable Speed Drive schools, PLC Programming, radiation safety school, control valve training, etc. ideal.
  • Customer relations experience.
  • Basic computer skills.
