Job Description

Red Hat Confirmed Sovereign Support is seeking a Senior Software Maintenance Engineer & Regional Tooling Lead to join the Confirmed Sovereign Support (CSS-EU) team in the European Union. This is a critical, dual-role position designed for a high-level technical professional who will serve as both the Salesforce/SCT Administrator for the EU region and a Senior Software Maintenance Engineer.

As the only EMEA-based administrator for our sovereign support infrastructure, you will be responsible for managing jurisdictional access controls and regional system integrity. When not performing sovereign tooling administrative functions, you will leverage your deep Red Hat expertise to resolve complex, high-impact technical issues for our most security-conscious customers. This role is foundational to Red Hat’s sovereign mission, ensuring our support delivery remains strictly within EU boundaries while maintaining operational performance.

What you will do:

  • Manage the Salesforce and other sovereign tooling for CSS-EU, including profiles, permission sets, role hierarchies, and jurisdictional access rules.

  • Define and audit security rules around reporting, list views, and data downloads to protect sensitive customer metadata.

  • Build and maintain custom objects, formula fields, flows, and dashboards within Salesforce to optimize the sovereign support workflow.

  • Lead data management tasks, including sandbox refreshes and data loader jobs (CRUD operations) for cases and objects, ensuring strict adherence to EU data residency.

  • Collaborate with the US-based SCT Tooling team to influence the development of the Service Cloud (SCT).

  • Act as an escalation point for non-routine, complex software issues impacting Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and related platforms.

  • Identify root causes at the source-code level and develop code-level fixes, workarounds, or CVE backports in collaboration with Engineering.

  • Provide high-touch technical support for EU-based government and regulated industry customers via web, phone, and secure remote sessions.

  • Drive regional knowledge-sharing (KCS) and mentor mid-level engineers on both technical support and sovereign operational protocols.

What you will bring

  • Must be an EU Citizen or Permanent Resident and currently reside within the European Union.

  • 7+ years of experience in Linux systems administration or software engineering, with a focus on enterprise-level troubleshooting.

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in Salesforce administration, specifically managing security models and complex workflows.

  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) is required.

  • Proficiency in bash scripting and debugging tools (e.g., strace, Wireshark, gdb) and the ability to analyze kernel-level issues.

  • Exceptional ability to articulate complex technical and jurisdictional requirements to both engineering and executive stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA) or Salesforce Advanced Administrator/Developer certifications.

  • Deep expertise with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP), Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), or Red Hat Satellite.

  • Experience in highly regulated EU industries such as Healthcare, Banking, or Government.

  • Proficiency in programming languages (Go, Python, C, Apex, or JavaScript) for reading and debugging source code.

  • KCS2 licensing and experience working in a SCRUM or agile environment.
