Your Role
As a Safety Supervisor with us, you’ll work with local facility leaders and team members to provide training, investigation and program management of local safety programs and standard operating procedures that incorporate lean manufacturing standards with zero injuries and zero waste. You’ll assist in the training of new team members to safely perform tasks, investigate accidents/injuries to determine root cause and implement preventative measures and assists with modified duty assignments and return to work. You may lead projects that support both Lean and Safety initiatives and assist in ISO certifications
What You’ll Be Doing
Assess, Recommends, Develops and Maintains Safety Programs and Protocols
Assesses and recommends measures to protect workers from potentially hazardous methods, processes or materials through process improvement, education/training, communication, monitoring based on federal and state OHSA and other regulatory compliance and company policies
Maintains safety and lean programs and incorporates these practices into workflows, e.g., emergency action plan, IIPP, drug/alcohol testing, heat illness program, SDS, etc.
Acts as a mentor to new employees (on-boarding, training schedule, certifications, ongoing education, PPE distribution, new PPE requests, drug testing, etc.) Coordinates new employee hands on training with supervisors and leads
Responsible for keeping supervisors, GMs and Production Managers aware of and on top of their various safety requirements (observations, toolbox talks, leadership audits, etc.)
Assesses and maintains adequacy of facilities/environment (housekeeping, lighting, tool availability, guards or protective devices))
Be the main site contact for all safety related matters: coordination between certification trainings with vendors/employees, stocking of kits, tests, SDS sheets, standard operating procedures and team member training
Leads local site safety/lean committees
Recognizes safe team members and team practices
May assist manager with CCS app training content or metric analysis
Accident Investigation and Preventative Actions
Manages injury reporting, investigations, root cause/corrective/preventative actions on site
Works with managers to ensure preventative/corrective actions are completed timely
Manages team member’s modified duty and return to work. Communicates with employee on modified work about hours worked, restrictions, etc.
Manages vehicular accident or property damage reporting
Reporting, Metrics and Lean Projects
Assists with OHSA 300 logs, updating injury folder, adding to injury notes, etc.
Coaches managers and team members on Lytx driving coachable incidents
Reports and records all maintenance issues, follow up with corrective action and fixes
Summarizes the information via CCS app for other sites to use
Works with team on Key Event Schedules on specified Lean projects, as needed
