Job Description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ph.D., M.D. or Doctoral equivalent in any field. Scientific research experience.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The postdoctoral fellow will conduct, report and present research in his/her field of study under the supervision of a faculty mentor. This is a training position, and is not expected to be a permanent position. Entry level postdoctoral research fellow designs, conducts research actives independently and contributes to advancing laboratory research projects. 
 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs independently in vivo experiments including intrathecal injections and behavioral analyses.
     
  • May supervise junior staff.
     
  • Plans, directs and coordinates complex research experiments following general technical procedures.
     
  • Works with Principal Investigator to formulate research plans, coordinates project activities and establishes appropriate reporting procedures.
     
  • Contributes to scientific analysis and interpretation of projects.
     
  • Makes modifications to research procedures in collaboration with the Principal Investigator.
     
  • Confers with Principal Investigator regarding results obtained and receives suggestions for modification to procedures and/or interpretation of final data.
     
  • Contributes to write animal protocols
     
  • Performs related duties as required.
     

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in basic science or equivalent and a PhD in Neuroscience with documented experience with intrathecal injections and animal behavior.
