Job Overview

Actively supervises the clinical operations of a large volume Care Center in partnership with the Clinic Manager and Clinic Operations Director.  Provides daily workflow direction and supervision of site staff to ensure providers have adequate staffing assistance to accommodate clinic efficiency while also achieving site objectives.  Directly supervises registered/licensed nursing staff and other patient care staff (CMA, MA, LPN, Therapists, etc.). 

 

As the nursing supervisor, responsibilities include but are not limited to:  recruitment, hiring, performance evaluations, pay decisions, discipline, firing and staffing, leading and/or participating in improvement projects/teams. Supervises training of staff upon hire and ongoing development to ensure that employees are competent to perform the skills and tasks required for their position.  Ensures that staff training complies with OSHA, Joint Commission and other regulatory requirements. Advises and leads patient care staff with regard to changes in the medical community to ensure best practices and may be responsible for clinical policy/ procedure development and implementation.  Provides direction and assists with care of patients in urgent and emergent situations.  Other duties include promoting the clinic to providers and community members. Assists in achieving coordination, consistency, and integration in the operation of the clinic site in conjunction with clinic leadership, and assists with the development and implementation of required learnings, policies and procedures.


Responsibilities

Supervises Patient Care Staff in Large Volume Medical Clinic(s) 

  • Actively supervises patient care staff through the recruitment, compensation, orientation, and retention of all patient care staff.
  • Maintains a communication system to assure all employees have relevant, timely, and appropriate information
  • Holds patient care staff accountable for their work
  • Provides feedback and coaching on an ongoing basis
  • Conducts fair, accurate and timely performance reviews
  • Continuously takes action to enhance employee satisfaction
  • Ensures that human resource policies and procedures are followed
  • Exercises independent judgment as to the work flow of areas of responsibility with respect to patient care, in accordance with policies, procedures, and guidelines

Supervises clinical operations

  • May monitor and improve clinic efficiency by managing performance of clinic, including patient volumes, staff expenses and other costs.
  • Demonstrates effective stewardship of limited resources.
  • Uses quality improvement tools and techniques to assess workflow issues and make process improvements.
  • Recognizes and addresses opportunities for improvement, using best practices information.
  • Sets appropriate priorities among competing demands.
  • Understands facility fee billing process
  • Understands the use of the electronic medical record and acts as a resource for employees and physicians
  • Ensures that Compliance policies and procedures are followed on site.
  • Follows all clinical regulatory requirements

  • Sets an example of exemplary customer service standards
  • Continuously builds customer understanding by monitoring patient satisfaction performance and customer feedback.
  • Takes actions to meet and exceed the needs of customers.
  • Continuously implements strategies to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Under direction of Clinic Manager and/or Director of Clinical Operations, oversees quality initiatives are implemented to provide the highest quality of care to our patients.

Uses communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes.

  • Communicates verbal and written information in a clear, concise, accurate, and timely manner.
  • Uses communication strategies appropriate to patient/family needs for information, education, and support.
  • Communicates effectively with all members of the healthcare team.

Coordinates daily activities of work team to ensure patient needs are met.

  • Completes and submits staffing schedule to Manager and covers sick calls and assigns breaks.
  • Acts as a resource for team members related to best practice and policy.
  • Refers standards of practice issues to Clinic Operations Manager for resolution.
  • Responds to and helps resolve operational issues.
  • Assists Clinical Manager with development and maintenance of practice protocols and guidelines.

Provides Nursing Services as needed and promotes team environment across the site and through interactions with other clinics.

  • Serves as a clinic representative or delegate’s authority appropriately at peer group or other meetings as assigned.
  • Attends appropriate clinic meetings and communicates appropriate information to others.

Supports a safe work environment.

  • Works with Safety Coordinator to ensure safety policies and practice are maintained.
  • Ensures equipment is in working order and quality control logs are completed.
  • In conjunction with Safety Coordinator develops and implements clinical competencies.

Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level of population served.

  • Communicates in a respectful manner.
  • Ensures a safe, secure environment.
  • Partners with patient/care-giver/management in care/decision making.
  • Individualizes care/service plan to meet patient/customer needs.
  • Modifies interventions/service based on population served.
  • Provides patient/employee education based on assessment of learning needs of learner.
  • Knowledge of physical, psychosocial and cognitive developmental needs for population served.
  • Knowledge of age appropriate outcomes and interventions.
  • Completes required learnings.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Current Minnesota RN License - Associate’s (ADN) or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN).
  • Five years of nursing experience in an ambulatory or inpatient care setting including two years of supervisory or nursing leadership experience in a clinical setting.

  • Proven leadership and team development skills.

  • Proven Patient Centered Care and above average performance as an RN.

  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)

Compensation Disclaimer

The posted pay range is for a 40-hour workweek (1.0 FTE). The actual rate of pay offered within thisrange may depend on several factors, such as FTE, skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience,and market conditions. Additionally, our organization values pay equity and considers the internal equity of our team when making any offer. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical. If yourrole is eligible for a sign-on bonus, the bonus program that is approved and in place at the time of offer, is what will be honored.
