Join Our Team as a Maintenance Technician!
The YMCA of the Iowa Mississippi Valley, is more than a workplace—we’re a community. We are seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Technician to support the upkeep and operation of our facilities. This role is essential in ensuring our buildings, equipment, and grounds remain safe, functional, and welcoming for all members and staff.
Schedule: Monday - Friday
Salary: $18.00/hr
What You’ll Do
No two days are the same! You’ll be responsible for a wide range of maintenance and facility support tasks, including:
- Performing preventive and general maintenance across YMCA facilities
- Troubleshooting and assisting with plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs
- Maintaining pool systems, spa equipment, and fitness machines
- Supporting facility renovations and improvement projects
- Ensuring clean, safe, and attractive indoor and outdoor spaces (including lawn care & snow removal)
- Monitoring safety risks and equipment conditions daily
- Keeping accurate maintenance records and reports
- Collaborating with the Head Maintenance Director on projects and planning
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in HVAC and Plumbing required
- Experience in building maintenance, custodial work or small construction projects
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- CPO certification (or willingness to obtain within 120 days)
Physical & Work Environment
This is an active, hands-on role! You should be comfortable with:
- Lifting up to 50–75 lbs
- Climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, and working in various positions
- Working both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
- Handling tools, equipment, and cleaning chemicals safely
