Overview of Position:

The 340B Specialist assists the 340B Manager with the day-to-day maintenance, audits, compliance, and reporting of the 340B drug program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1.    Monitors purchasing records for each 340B participant; clearly documents utilization, savings, problem areas, and exceptions or discrepancies. Relays results to appropriate leadership and service areas.
2.    Monitors 340B drug inventory and ensures proper replenishment.
3.    Ensures compliance with regulations related to 340B purchasing.
4.    Routinely communicates any questions, issues, or discrepancies with the appropriate authority.
5.    Participates in the development and implementation of reports generated on the 340B program that outline savings, utilization, exceptions, and discrepancies.
6.    Updates the crosswalk for new products and product changes to ensure both the accuracy of the utilization report and the efficiency and accuracy of the change process.
7.    Assists in implementing new software packages and other changes in business practice based on changing regulations and policies.
8.    Integrates information from the pharmacy chargemaster system into the 340B split-billing system and incorporates that information into auditable and compliant processes.
9.    Works with pharmacy team and pharmacy informatics team to ensure that the organization’s clinical information system is coordinated and integrated into the work with the 340B program.
10.    Performs audits to ensure CDM and BUPP accuracy.
11.    Participates in projects, councils, and special initiatives related to 340B, compliance, auditing functions, vendor selection, and medication management.
12.    Assists in the development and implementation of programmatic resources/tools to support staff.
13.    Conducts and documents self-audits of all contract pharmacies, hospital utilization and drug purchases.
14.    Reviews pharmacy billing issues and ensures that adequate system checks are reviewed to prevent billing issues.
15.    Evaluates patient eligibility for qualified and non-qualified patients in hospital-based mixed-use areas and clinics by reviewing patient medical records, insurance plans, and hospital status.
16.    Assists 340B Manager with additional tasks as needed.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
1.    High school graduate or equivalent. 
2.    Five years of hospital or retail pharmacy experience. 
3.    An understanding of the 340B drug program. 
4.    340B ACE Certification or must obtain within 12 months of hire. 
5.    Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician and registered with the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician is preferred, but not required. 
6.    Sound interpersonal, decision making and problem-solving skills. 
7.    Good listening, verbal and written communication skills.   
8.    Ability to determine dosages using basic pharmaceutical calculations.  
9.    Ability to work under pressure.

1.    Must regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
2.    Vision abilities require up-close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
3.    Individual bends, reaches, pushes and pulls file drawers to file records and reports.
4.    Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
5.    Answers phone calls, uses computer and other business machines extensively which requires the ability to apply finger dexterity.
