About the Role: The Senior Commodity Manager provides strategic leadership for the sourcing, performance, and development of suppliers supporting fabricated metals and plastics used in products and assemblies. This position is accountable for optimizing the preferred supplier base to ensure supply continuity, high quality standards, and competitive total cost outcomes in alignment with business objectives.

In this role, the Senior Commodity Manager serves as the primary liaison across Planning, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to drive supplier selection and sourcing decisions based on total cost of ownership, risk, and operational performance. The position also leads supplier engagement for new product introductions, prototype builds, and production programs, with responsibility for commercial terms, lead times, inventory strategy, logistics, tariff impacts, and product life cycle planning.

Responsibilities:

Achieve a 3.5% annual cost reduction target and related performance objectives by executing sourcing strategies aligned to business priorities and defined key performance indicators (KPI’s).

Conduct quarterly market intelligence reviews and communicate pricing, supply, and industry trends to inform sourcing decisions and risk mitigation plans.

Lead biannual business reviews with strategic suppliers to evaluate performance, address operational issues, and align continuous improvement priorities.

Identify, assess, and qualify new suppliers to support cost competitiveness, supply continuity, capacity expansion, and overall supply chain resilience.

Develop and implement supplier localization strategies that improve regional alignment, reduce landed cost, and strengthen responsiveness to business needs.

Drive supplier quality and delivery improvement initiatives through scorecards, performance reviews, corrective action management, and ongoing collaboration with internal quality teams.

Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to support new product introductions, prototype requirements, and production readiness through effective supplier selection and development.

Manage commercial and operational supplier requirements, including pricing, lead times, inventory strategies, logistics coordination, tariff considerations, and product life cycle planning.

Lead escalation management for supply shortages and supplier-related disruptions, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact to production and customer commitments.

Perform other duties as assigned in support of procurement and supply chain objectives.

Qualifications & Competencies:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related discipline, with a minimum of 10 years of direct experience in strategic sourcing, commodity management, or procurement leadership.

Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and supplier markets related to fabricated metals, plastics, electronic and mechanical components, value-added assemblies, and freight and logistics services.

Working knowledge of supplier quality and quality management systems; certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or ISO 9000 Lead Assessor are considered an advantage.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and lead discussions across internal teams and external suppliers.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, with strong analytical and presentation capabilities.
