Job Description
As a Seamstress/Tailor at UniformWorks Powered by Galls, you will be hands-on altering and providing exceptional customer service to our soldiers and airmen. You will ensure all measurements and fittings are done properly, accurately, and efficiently – so that they can wear that uniform proudly. At UniformWorks, we are P.R.O.U.D. to Serve, and it all starts on our Production and Value-Added Service Team.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Read and accurately identify the customer’s needs per the Work Instruction Document
- Take necessary measurements and mark garments for alterations with ability to problem solve individual sizing issues
- Perform uniform sewing, alternations, and embellishments with accuracy and efficiency to include taking up stride, lengthening/shortening tails on shirts, tapering shirts, adjusting waists, hemming trousers, mending tears, replacing zippers, applying patches, applying name strips, applying striping, and applying patches
- Operate industrial sewing machinery and meet production deadlines
- Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Two years or more of experience in related field required
- Entry to mid-level seamstress/alterations experience
- Well-versed on commercial/industrial sergers and computerized sewing equipment
- Ability to effectively read/receive work instructions in English
- Extremely detail-oriented and quality-focused
- Solid communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
- Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time, bend, stretch, twist, and lift, with or without reasonable accommodation
