The Grocery People (TGP) is hiring a Meat Supervisor on a permanent basis at our location in Edmonton, AB.
If you are looking to use your creativity and leadership skills to take the meat department to the next level, The Grocery People (TGP) is looking for you! You will be responsible for promoting the TGP brand (Fresh, Local, and Personal), and assisting in the development, planning and execution of key business goals as set out in the annual budget.
What you’ll do:
- You will organize, coordinate, and direct the operations of the meat, seafood and deli departments.
- You will review sales, margins, expenses, and develop action plans to correct deficiencies.
- Develop work schedules for team members to ensure all work is completed and wage cost targets are maintained and enter the data into our portal.
- Ensure a safe working environment and that safety policies are followed and core safety deliverables are met
- Assist the Food Manager in recruitment and training of new employees, and provide performance management in a unionized environment through coaching, appraisals, progressive discipline, and the rewarding of high quality contributions. Develop employees KPI’s for future promotion and career development opportunities.

Who you are:
You are looking for a career in Retail Store Operations and:
- Have a Grade 12 education.
- Have 2-5 years meat cutting experience in a retail environment
- Have 5+ years of retail experience coupled with minimum 2-3 years of leadership experience preferred (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
- Have excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently contribute positively to a highly motivated team.
