Role Summary:

The Transaction Control & Reconciliation team is responsible for maintaining the operational accuracy and financial integrity of CPP Investments’ cash management processes. The team oversees the end-to-end execution and verification of external wire payments, ensuring all transactions are processed securely, accurately, and in compliance with established controls. It is also responsible for maintaining the integrity of the firm’s accounting book of record by performing daily cash reconciliation, analyzing and escalating exceptions to the appropriate internal group across Operations. By managing both payment execution and reconciliation oversight, the team plays a key role in mitigating operational risk, supporting daily investment activity, and ensuring reliable financial reporting.

As an Analyst, Operational Controls & Systems, you will support the Investment Operations teams with start of day and end of day reconciliations, asset servicing, investment accounting, reporting and valuations for either public or private assets. You will also assist with basic day-to-day evaluation, accounting, and monitoring of relevant investment portfolios covering all security types and asset classes.

Accountabilities:

  • Review and oversight over daily cash reconciliation processes, including:

    • Accounting book of record to banking partner and custodian reconciliation

    • Reconciliation utility maintenance

    • Generation and analysis of daily firm wide account balances.

  • Providing reporting of cash exceptions across the organization, including monthly metrics, Month End Exception reporting and daily exception signoff.

  • Develop and implement new reconciliation processes for stakeholders across various operational areas, while providing support for business analysis.

  • Cross-train with teammates on related roles within the team to provide flexibility in coverage of operational activities.

  • Assist in developing and maintaining policies and procedures.

  • Continually strive for operational excellence; seek ways to streamline processes and create operational efficiencies. Maintain an ongoing effective working relationship with internal investment staff and external asset managers to ensure issues are discussed and resolved, financial controls and reporting requirements are met.

  • Other ad-hoc reporting, analytics and projects

  • Proactively build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues in Operations, Technology, and the Investment Departments.


Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or college diploma in related field.

  • 2+ years of relevant experience.

  • Professional designations such as a CBV, CFA, CPA are considered an asset.

  • Experience with Duco is considered an asset.

  • Basic understanding of different programming language is considered an asset.

  • Strong analytical, financial and management accounting skills will be necessary to perform this role.

  • Strong Excel skills and comfortable learning new systems.
