Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Sr Design Engineer - Regulators.
This role is based at our Waukesha, WI facility. No relocation assistancew ill be provided.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $86000 - $126000 a year.

What you’ll do:
This position is responsible for supporting both Regulator and plant leadership in achieving business and financial goals by participating in or leading new product development, continuous improvement, and cost out initiatives across the organization. Leads cross functional project teams comprised of both local and international members. Uses mechanical engineering knowledge and experience to solve complex design problems with the ability to train others. Assist ETO and MOL functions in day-to-day product line support.
In this role you will:
- Design and improve products to enhance performance, reduce cost, and simplify manufacturing
- Support engineer-to-order work and manufacturing with compliant designs and assembly/test support
- Lead new product development from concept through production; manage projects and schedules
- Drive cost reduction, quality improvement, and continuous improvement using Lean and Six Sigma
- Collaborate with purchasing and global suppliers to develop reliable vendor relationships
- Conduct design reviews, DFM/DFA, value engineering, and cost estimating activities
- Develop and implement new processes, capital plans, and methodologies to support business growth
- Lead cross-functional teams, mentor others, and communicate effectively with senior leadership
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Four (4) years of experience in design and development of mechanical or electro-mechanical systems.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Seven (7) years of experience in design and development of mechanical or electro-mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in FEA, strength of materials and methodology to analyze for design
- Materials knowledge in the areas of resins, thermosets, thermoplastics and electrical contacts.
- Detailed knowledge of various welding processes such as MIG and TIG welding.
- Thorough understanding of problem-solving methodologies used in determining root cause and formulating corrective action(s) - i.e. thought maps, 8D, root cause analysis, Tolerance stacks, Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis, Gage R & R, control charts, Pareto charts, etc.
- Knowledge of DFMEA, PFMEA and DFM.
- DFSS knowledge and experience. Understands how to use statistics to make solid, data driven decisions.
- Greenbelt level or higher.
- Proficiency in various software applications – i.e. Computer Aided Design (AutoCAD and Inventor preferred), MS Office suite, Minitab, etc.
- Knowledge of industry and customer specific quality processes (i.e., ISO9001, AS9100, IEEE etc).
- Understanding of phase-gate project management. (PROLaunch preferred)
- Experienced project leader that has successfully implemented several medium scale projects. Experience managing project teams, assigning responsibilities and following up on actions.
- Facilitation skills including excellent verbal and written communication, persuasion, collaboration and consensus building.
