
Dialysis Technician
Job Description
Essential Job Function:
- Performs hemodialysis treatments for patients, including preparation, supply gathering, care organization, documentation, and reporting abnormal findings to the RN/LPN.
- Assists with daily department operations, prepares dialysis treatment set-up, performs safety checks, and assists with machine cleaning and turnover between patients.
- Collaborates with co-workers, manages resources efficiently, maintains supplies, and communicates effectively with the healthcare team and patients.
- Performs quality control monitoring of the hemodialysis water system and equipment, including documenting results, reporting deviations, and implementing appropriate strategies.
- Precepts new Dialysis Technicians, assists with orientation, and evaluates competency-based training.
- Provides preventative maintenance and minor equipment repair, reports unsafe conditions, and assists with machine repairs.
- Responds to emergencies, adheres to patient safety goals, uses appropriate safety devices, protects confidential information, and follows organizational policies and procedures.
- Performs clerical activities, assists with scheduling appointments, enters charges, maintains paperwork, and ensures inventory levels are adequate.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Required: High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- Required: 0 – 1 years of Nephrology experience to include Hemodialysis (HD).
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Certification (CCHT) certification, BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
