
Mechanical Engineering Intern (12month - September 2026)

The Opportunity:
12 month work term: September, 2026 – August, 2027
How You Will Contribute:
This position will provide assistance with Electro-mechanical Equipment and Test Station Design, Documentation, and Database Management, and will provide excellent exposure to Engineering design and documentation control practices.
- Work with mechanical designers to design, prepare and configure Test fixture and stations
- Create documentation to record changes and capture fabrication procedure
- Raise awareness of defects and performance issues
- Analyze test results, and provide recommendation to management
- Periodically build, modify and repair test equipment, fixtures and electro-mechanical assemblies
- Generate product documentation including, custom part drawings, assembly drawings, engineering Bill of Materials, common feature drawings and process flows
The Must Haves:
- Working towards completion of Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology
- Preference will be given to students enrolled in the 3rd year and beyond
- Proficient knowledge of 3D design tool (PROE/Creo preferred)
- Proficient knowledge of 3D printers and maintenance
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Able to manage multiple tasks with flexibility to refocus as priority changes
- Mechanically inclined (expected to mount, repair & adapt test setups)
Assets:
- Experience in design of Mechanical Jig and Fixtures
- Experience in using various hand-held power tools, and operating on machine shop equipment like lathe, bandsaw, drill-presses etc.
- Experience in programming for microcontrollers (e.g. Arduino), data processing (Python/MATLAB), and/or Windows environments (C# / .NET)
- Experience with pneumatic systems incorporating components including regulators, valves, and cylinders
- Working knowledge of electronics, data acquisition systems, basic circuit design
- Experience with document and version management systems (e.g. Windchill)
Pay Range: The hourly pay range for the position is $24.50 - $33.00
