In this role, you will work with automation systems for tissue machine modernization projects in a global and collaborative environment. Your daily work will consist of diverse and technically challenging tasks, where you will have the opportunity to take initiative, contribute to customer performance improvements, and support the continuous development of our technologies and ways of working. Your work will include software engineering, testing, commissioning, training, and start-up activities, while contributing to both customer performance and the continuous development of our technologies and ways of working. As a software engineer, you will primarily work with Valmet DNA tools, while also having the opportunity to broaden your expertise with Siemens PLCs and Pilz safety controllers when needed.
The position is located in Karlstad. International travel is part of the role, offering opportunities for hands-on impact and global collaboration.
Your main responsibilities
- Design and develop automation system software (PLC/DCS) and produce the related documentation.
- Timely completing engineering activities with respect to delivery time, hourly budget and the target cost.
- Support mechanical and process engineering teams in solution selection.
- Support the sales team by providing expertise and answers to software engineering‑related questions.
- Support procurement team if needed to evaluate suppliers and brands.
- Participate in FAT and start-ups.
- Participate in commissioning, testing and starting up of equipment.
What do we expect from you?
- B.Sc or M.Sc degree in automation engineering or equivalent experience
- More than five years of experience in a similar role
- Experience with PLC/DCS systems (e.g. Valmet DNA, Siemens, Allen-Bradley)
- Industry knowledge
- Experience with Eplan/CADS is an additional advantage
- Proficiency in Swedish and English
- Self-driven and collaborative mindset
- Willingness to travel 0-80 days per year
