Position Summary

The Clean Room Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of the clean room and production jobs running in this controlled environment. This role ensures compliance with ISO Class 7 requirements, regulatory standards, and company protocols. The supervisor leads the operations team, maintains the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and efficiency, and ensures that all regulatory obligations are met. Engineering teams will retain ownership of recipe development and product introduction, while this position focuses on execution, compliance, and operational discipline.

 

Primary Responsibilities

Operational Oversight

  • Lead and supervise the operations team working within the clean room.
  • Monitor environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, particle count) to maintain ISO Class 7 and ISO 14644 compliance.
  • Establish, enforce, and oversee gowning/PPE protocols and personnel behavior.
  • Develop and coordinate cleaning schedules, preventive maintenance, and contractor activities to ensure regulatory standards are met.
  • Ensure equipment, consumables, and materials meet clean room requirements; manage staging and preparation of inks, screens, and wafers.
  • Liaise with Engineering (manufacturing, process, design) to support new product introduction and ensure smooth transitions into clean room operations.
  • Maintain documentation, compliance records, and audit readiness; handle deviations, CAPAs, and inspections.
  • Collaborate with Facilities, EHS, and Quality to uphold safety and regulatory standards.

 

Team Leadership & Training

  • Supervise, coach, and train operators in clean room protocols, contamination control, and regulatory requirements.
  • Reinforce discipline and best practices to sustain high standards of operation.
  • Monitor training completion, requalification, and audit preparedness to ensure ongoing compliance.

 

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive operational discipline through daily tier meetings, defect reviews, and compliance checks.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Document Control to sustain process improvements.
  • Support problem-solving and corrective actions to prevent recurrence and ensure regulatory compliance.

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience supervising operations in cleanroom or controlled environments.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO Class 7 requirements, contamination control protocols, and regulatory standards.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and enforce compliance.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills, with audit readiness experience.

Preferred:

  • Experience in electronics, semiconductors, or medical device manufacturing. Candidates with experience in Electronic Component Manufacturing is a Plus
  • Familiar with the following key wafer processes:
  • Thick and Thin Film Technology
  • Screen Printing and Sputtering
  • Electro-plating
  • Material characterization
  • Metrology
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance planning, environmental monitoring systems, and regulatory audits.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.

Work Environment

  • Work in ISO Class 7 cleanroom and Cat 8 controlled areas.
  • Adherence to gowning, contamination control, EHS, and regulatory handling protocols required.
  • Occasional off-shift support during engineering runs/startups and audits.
