The Position

IT Business Analyst - Pharma R&D

The IT Business Analyst possesses in-depth knowledge of the pharma clinical data management business domain and understanding of data engineering & analytics technologies, operating at the intersection of business strategy, data, and technology needs.

In this role, you will apply systems thinking to navigate the complexity of clinical trial data and real-world data (RWD) systems, translating business needs into system requirements, oversee initiatives with full autonomy and lead analysis efforts across highly ambiguous spaces. Acting as a trusted advisor to leadership, you will actively shape long-term roadmaps, drive consensus through persuasive communication, and recommend optimal technology solutions to ensure efficient acquisition and management of clinical trial data.

Who we are: 

This team is responsible for delivering software systems for the data acquisition and processing of Roche clinical trial data, serving as the source of truth across Roche Pharma. Foundational systems in this area include Roche’s electronic data capture (EDC) - Medidata Rave, non-CRF systems, and clinical data warehouses.

These systems are critical to drug development, powering clinical data review, safety reporting, operational insights for clinical teams, and support early development activities in the REDs. They provide data to the Analytical Data Science’s ecosystems to standardize and analyze data for regulatory submissions. In addition, standardized clinical data from these systems are essential to integrate with Roche’s specialized data modality platforms including omics, clinical imaging, and digital health technologies.

A key focus in this area will be to leverage emerging AI technologies to optimize clinical data acquisition data pipelines. This includes enriching metadata and building AI-ready datasets to enable autonomous agentic and human-in-the loop AI systems which are transforming the drug development process.

The Opportunity:

  • Business Analysis Leadership & Delivery: Lead business analysis for initiatives or workstreams with autonomy, coordinating complexity and scale. Defines and leads analysis efforts across highly ambiguous spaces, translating complex data requirements into process maps, epics, features, and users stories.

  • Problem Solving: Leads the analysis of business problems, defining the problem space and driving comprehensive root cause analysis that may span organizational boundaries. Proactively prevents scope creep, manages the complexity of various scopes of change, and is ultimately accountable for business analysis deliverables ensuring alignment across functions and dependent systems.

  • Stakeholder Management: Identifies and engages key stakeholders, including management, across both IT and business organizational boundaries. Shapes strategy as a trusted advisor to leadership, actively navigates conflicts to achieve alignment, and empowers teams in stakeholder management.

  • Impact & Strategy: Drives significant impact on projects and programs by ensuring the delivery of high-value solutions that align with business strategy. Leads the evaluation of strategic solution options, including advanced value analysis and risk assessment, and actively shapes long-term roadmaps.

  • Complexity: Works typically on multiple systems across the sub-function, effectively managing highly ambiguous and evolving requirements. Demonstrates an end-to-end viewpoint to analyze problems, considering how data flows across systems.

  • Business Domain & Technical Expertise: Uses in-depth knowledge of clinical data business processes and technical expertise in data integration and engineering to inform business strategies.

Who you are:

Education / Experience

  • Experience: 7+ years as a Business Analyst/Consultant, with at least 4 years in the Life Sciences or Pharma Industry.

  • Experience with Clinical Data Systems, including data warehouses, data lakes, Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems or Non-CRF data systems. 

  • Extensive experience overseeing initiatives with autonomy, coordinating complexity and scale, and driving alignment across highly ambiguous spaces.

  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of Business Analysis Advisory/Consultancy concepts and practices.

  • Strong communication skills to manage stakeholders and facilitate discussions between business and IT users globally.

  • Familiar with Agile product delivery, backlog management, and delivering GxP validated systems

  • Flexibility: Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and commit to collaboration during "Roche Golden Hours" (7:00 - 10:00 AM PST).

  • Fluency in English.

Technical Skills

  • Ability to apply systems thinking to provide holistic and enterprise-wide consulting advice.

  • Mastery in requirements and domain knowledge, with the ability to conduct comprehensive root cause analysis and advanced value and risk assessments.

  • Experience with databases, SQL, scripting languages such as python, APIs, and data analytics tools

  • Strong willingness to learn and develop practical experience in AI agent workflows

Compensation & Benefits

The expected salary range for this position, based on the primary location of Warsaw Grafit is 228,900.00 PLN-425,100.00 PLN. Final compensation will be determined by a number of factors, including your skills, experience, qualifications, and location. In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus with a target of 20% subject to both individual and company performance.
