Journeyman Plumber: Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems including pipes, fixtures, and appliances like water heaters, toilets, and sinks.
- Diagnose and resolve issues with plumbing systems using various diagnostic methods.
- Read blueprints and building specifications to determine the layout for plumbing systems.
- Adhere to local, state, and national plumbing codes and regulations.
- Prepare cost estimates for clients regarding materials and labor.
- Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Perform scheduled maintenance checks to prevent future plumbing issues.
- Coordinate with other trades (electricians, builders, etc.) to ensure seamless project execution.
- Keep accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Respond to emergency service calls as required.
Requirements:
- Must possess a Journeyman Plumber license or equivalent certification.
Skills:
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent knowledge of plumbing codes, standards, and safety practices.
- Proficiency in using plumbing tools and equipment.
- Good physical condition with the ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and work in cramped or uncomfortable positions.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with clients and team members.
