Job Description:

As an IT Operations Engineer, you will ensure the stability, reliability, security, and end-to-end operational continuity of Shell Energy Asia’s Gas and Power digital landscape.

You will provide day-to-day operational support for business-critical applications, platforms, integrations, and supporting infrastructure that enable trading, scheduling, nominations, settlements and operational workflows, ensuring services meet agreed SLAs and are operated in line with Shell governance and controls. 

The role supports portfolio and product growth in line with Shell’s Powering Progress strategy. 

 

Key accountabilities 

  • Own end-to-end operational support for Gas and Power applications and platforms, ensuring resilient service delivery, SLA compliance, and 24x7 support for critical services. 

  • Support and deliver change releases, upgrades, and cutovers, ensuring operational readiness, risk control, and continuity of critical business services. 

  • Strengthen the control environment across supported services through effective IT controls, security remediation, access governance, and audit compliance. 

  • Partner with Product, Data Analytics, and DevOps teams to enhance service reliability, observability, and system performance in support of business continuity.   

  • Provide leadership support during critical business periods and ensure on-call coverage aligned with service criticality and business demand. 

  • Drive continuous improvement and standardization of operational practices in line with Shell Service Operations Management priorities and service excellence objectives. 

  • Govern vendor performance and service reviews to ensure contractual commitments are met and Shell derives full value from supplier partnerships. 

  • Support enterprise and application modernization initiatives to sustain platform supportability, security, and operational resilience. 

  • Engage early in project delivery to shape scope, define operational requirements, and secure robust Agree-to-Operate outcomes. 

  • Build and mature managed service provider capability across applications and integration operations to sustain service effectiveness and strategic value. 

  • Deliver AI-enabled solutions for autonomous operations, integrated with observability and service workflows. 

  • Own financial oversight for supported applications and portfolios, including cost management, budget support, and reporting to ensure effective control and value delivery. 

 

Required Experience & Qualifications 

  • Relevant experience in IT Operations and Application Support for business-critical systems, with knowledge of Gas and Power business, and core applications. 

  • Fresh graduates with strong technical aptitude and a willingness to learn are also encouraged to apply. 

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline. 

  • Hands-on experience supporting enterprise applications and integrations, with strong problem-solving and incident response capability. 

  • Working knowledge of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change, Knowledge, Service Request) and the ability to operate as an end-to-end service integrator across teams and suppliers. 

  • Strong knowledge of SQL and Azure Databricks for operational troubleshooting and data validation. 

  • Demonstrated discipline in operating within enterprise governance for change controls, access management, security vulnerability management, and audit requirements. 

  • Proven stakeholder management and communication capability, independently manage complex situations and outcomes.  

  • Continuous improvement mindset, including adoption of AI technology to support autonomous operations.   

  • Experience with driving Agree-To-Operate (ATO) artefacts for project delivery, to support a safe and sustainable transition into live operations. 

  • Proven experience driving reliability and automation initiatives to strengthen service resilience and operational efficiency.   

  • Experience with monitoring tools and operational data to identify issues, establish alerts, and improve service stability through automated response capabilities. 

 

Other Technical skills 

  • Application and integration troubleshooting, including APIs, middleware, batch jobs, certificates, authentication, and data flows. 

  • Cloud platform fundamentals across compute, storage, networking, identity and access, and secrets and certificate management. 

  • Knowledge of CI/CD and DevSecOps practices, including pipelines, deployment processes, automated testing, and production operability. 

  • Knowledge of operational resilience and recovery, including backup and recovery, failover, disaster recovery, and business continuity support. 

  • Practical scripting and automation skills using Python and Microsoft Power Platform tools such as Power BI and Power Automate.
