Role Summary
The RPA Architect is responsible for defining, designing, and governing end‑to‑end automation solutions across the enterprise. This role partners closely with business and IT stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable, secure, and resilient RPA architectures. The RPA Architect establishes standards, ensures platform stability and security, drives best practices across the RPA delivery lifecycle, and enables the RPA Center of Excellence (CoE) to deliver high‑quality automations.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Solution Design
- Lead the design of enterprise‑scale RPA solutions aligned with business and IT strategies.
- Translate business requirements into robust RPA architecture, technical designs, and solution specifications.
- Define and enforce RPA architecture standards, design principles, governance frameworks, and best practices across the automation lifecycle (intake, design, build, release, and run).
- Lead proof of concept or sample automations to guide development teams and validate architectural approaches.
- Perform impact analysis for new releases, enhancements, and platform upgrades, including testing and data requirements.
Platform & Infrastructure Management
- Own the RPA platform architecture, including Dev, UAT, and Production environments.
- Identify, define, and maintain infrastructure, networking, and security requirements to ensure reliable and scalable automation deployments.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and network teams to ensure compliance with enterprise policies.
- Assist development and support teams with environment‑related and platform issues.
Governance & Quality Assurance
- Establish and maintain RPA governance frameworks, including development standards, security controls, and release management processes.
- Conduct architecture reviews and code reviews, ensuring adherence to RPA standards and quality benchmarks.
- Identify, track, and proactively mitigate technical risks and delivery issues.
- Monitor and report SLA metrics, platform health, vulnerabilities, and escalation items.
Delivery & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with business functions such as Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Finance, Purchasing, and Engineering to identify automation opportunities.
- Provide effort estimates and architectural input for sprint planning and delivery roadmaps.
- Build strong collaborative relationships with business stakeholders, RPA developers, and CoE members.
- Support ongoing maintenance, enhancements, and operational support for enterprise automations.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Maintain SME‑level understanding of automated business processes and recommend future enhancements.
- Identify opportunities to expand RPA capabilities and adoption across the organization.
- Promote a collaborative, learning‑oriented culture aligned with company values.
Technical Skills & Experience
- 3–5 years of hands‑on experience with Automation Anywhere A360 or equivalent RPA platforms (UiPath, Blue Prism, Power Automate).
- Ability to design and, when required, develop simple to moderate automation workflows.
- 5+ years of software development experience using languages such as Java, C#, or equivalent, including UI‑based automation concepts.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and security patterns (certificates, secrets, networking)
- Strong understanding of:
- RPA architecture patterns and best practices
- SDLC and Agile delivery models
- IT Service Management (ITSM) and ITIL frameworks
- Infrastructure, operations, and enterprise architecture concepts
- Security, access management, and compliance considerations for automation
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Proven ability to facilitate discussions, influence stakeholders, and work effectively in cross‑functional teams.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience working within an RPA Center of Excellence (CoE).
- Exposure to enterprise‑scale automation programs across multiple business domains.
- Working knowledge of Agentic AI on the Automation Anywhere platform or similar
- Experience with release management, CI/CD concepts, and automation monitoring frameworks.
