About the Role
Magna Powertrain is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions across our manufacturing and engineering operations. This role will play a critical part in driving digital transformation initiatives, improving operational efficiency, and enabling smart factory capabilities.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, IT, and engineering to deliver scalable AI-driven solutions that create measurable business impact.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML models for manufacturing optimization, predictive maintenance, and quality analytics
Lead end-to-end AI solution lifecycle: data acquisition, model development, validation, deployment, and monitoring
Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify automation and optimization opportunities
Build and maintain data pipelines and scalable AI architectures
Apply advanced techniques in computer vision, NLP, and time-series analysis for industrial use cases
Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in AI development
Ensure solutions align with Magna’s digital transformation and Industry 4.0 strategy
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field
5+ years of experience in AI/ML development in industrial or enterprise environments including 3rd part systems integration
Strong programming skills in Python and experience with AI frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.)
Experience working with RDBMS and NoSQL database systems (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.)
Experience with data engineering (Databricks, Microsoft Fabric), cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and deployment pipelines
Solid understanding of statistical modeling and machine learning algorithms
Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe)
Fluent in Spanish (mandatory) and professional working proficiency in English
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the automotive or manufacturing industry
Knowledge of Industry 4.0 technologies, IoT, and smart factories
Hands-on experience with computer vision (e.g., defect detection)
Familiarity with MLOps practices and model lifecycle management
