As part of the Software Tools & DevOps team, you will ensure our Atlassian ecosystem remains robust, scalable, and aligned to business needs—empowering teams to deliver high-quality products efficiently.
Reporting to the Global Head of Software Tools & Process, you will be accountable for the ownership, strategy, and evolution of Jira and the wider Atlassian stack, ensuring seamless integration across the SDLC and continuous improvement of development workflows.
About the Role:
As a Senior Jira Administrator, you will take end-to-end ownership of the Atlassian toolchain, with a primary focus on Jira as the backbone of our software delivery processes. You will be accountable for the design, governance, configuration, integration, and performance of Jira and its associated tools.
This role requires both deep technical expertise and strategic oversight, ensuring Jira frameworks are scalable, standardised, and aligned with enterprise-wide development and business processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive Feature Delivery: Take senior-level accountability for the design, development, and deployment of automation solutions that directly streamline software development workflows and accelerate the delivery of features to our products.
- Automation Champion: Architect, develop, and maintain robust automation scripts and frameworks using Python to integrate various development tools and applications, eliminating manual processes and improving efficiency.
- Integration Expert: Design and implement seamless integrations between our diverse suite of development tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Artifactory) and other critical business systems, leveraging Python and RESTful APIs.
- Technical Leadership: Lead the technical delivery of requirements into well-tested code and application configurations, adhering to agreed standards and build methods. Mentor and guide junior team members in best practices.
- Proactive Innovation: Take a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for automation and process improvement. Present innovative ideas and concepts to senior management, using data-driven insights to influence decisions.
- Problem Resolution & Validation: Own and contribute to the thorough resolution of complex engineering problems, ensuring solutions are robustly validated through appropriate testing methodologies.
- Team & Departmental Contribution: Lead or contribute to team and departmental level initiatives and change projects, driving positive impact across the organisation.
- Technical Ownership: Maintain technical accountability for the configuration and deployment of software development tools, applications, and build pipelines, ensuring their stability and performance.
About You:
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven experience administering and owning Atlassian Jira at enterprise scale.
- Deep expertise in:
- Jira configuration (workflows, schemes, permissions, automation)
- Atlassian ecosystem tools (Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo)
- Atlassian Cloud and/or Data Center environments
- Strong experience designing scalable Jira frameworks and governance models.
- Hands-on experience with:
- REST APIs, webhooks, and integration patterns
- Scripting and automation (Python, Groovy, or similar)
- SDLC toolchain integration (CI/CD, SCM, testing, artifact management)
- Understanding of:
- DevOps principles and Agile methodologies
- Data structures and reporting within Jira
- Authentication mechanisms (SSO, LDAP, OAuth)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to translate complex requirements into practical, scalable solutions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.

We Would Love It If You Also Had:
- Atlassian certifications (e.g., ACP Jira Administrator).
- Experience with Atlassian Access and enterprise governance models.
- Knowledge of data analytics and reporting tools (e.g., eazyBI, Tableau, Grafana).
- Experience in large-scale Agile frameworks (SAFe, LeSS).
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and modern DevOps tooling.
