- Review and process import/export documentation to ensure compliance with CBP regulations
- Prepare and submit documentation for duty drawback and refunds
- Sign and maintain required brokerage documentation.
- Manage and respond to customs rejections and inquires
- Provide timely responses to client questions related to customs processes
- Complete clerical tasks and oversee the clearance process for goods moving through customs
- Leverage internal benchmarks to secure transportation services at competitive rates
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient customs clearance
- Analyze, format, verify and reconcile import and export data required to prepare accurate and complete drawback claims
- Prepare, file, and maintain organized, audit-ready documentation supporting all duty drawback claims, methodologies, and customer-specific requirements in compliance with CBP rules and regulations
- Document and track customer-specific nuances, including product identification codes, bill of materials, claim methodologies, and data assumptions
- Develop a clear understanding of each customer’s duty recovery objectives and service level expectations
- Ensure timely submission of claims while maintaining high accuracy and compliance standards
- Maintain required records in accordance with CBP retention requirements
- Maintain positive relations with major clients and demonstrate product knowledge
- Perform other related job duties as assigned or required.
- Minimum of 2 years in the International Freight Forwarding industry with customs clearance experience
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as freight rates, discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages
- Ability to apply concepts of advanced accounting
- Familiarity with trade compliance system and drawback software
- Active U.S. Customs Broker License (LCB) is preferred
- Experience preparing or supporting drawback claims in ACE is ideal
- Drawback and/or FTZ experience is preferred
- Experience with the Cargowise program is a plus
- Completion of any industry-related course is an asset
- Sit for prolonged periods of time at a desk while working on a computer
- Use hands and fingers to operate a keyboard, mouse, and telephone
- Speak and hear clearly in person, virtually, and over the phone
- Occasionally stand, walk, reach, stoop, or lift up to 10 pounds
