POSITION SUMMARY:

The Administrative Director of Infusion Access provides strategic and operational leadership for patient access to infusion services across the Cancer Institute’s East and West Coast operations. This role is responsible for designing, standardizing, and optimizing end-to-end access workflows, including order management, authorization, scheduling, treatment coordination, and cycle planning, to ensure timely, equitable, and efficient delivery of infusion care. Serving as a key member of a triad leadership model, the Director partners closely with the Clinical Director of Infusion and the Vice President of Pharmacy to align patient access, clinical protocols, medication workflows, and operational capacity. The Director leads enterprise-wide initiatives to improve time to treatment, throughput, patient experience, financial performance, and sustainable growth while developing high-performing teams and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.


CORE ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute the enterprise infusion access strategy across the full continuum of care, including order management, authorization, scheduling, treatment, and cycle planning. 
  • Standardize access models, workflows, scheduling practices, and performance expectations across all infusion sites. 
  • Partner with clinical and pharmacy leadership to align patient access, clinical protocols, medication workflows, and operational priorities. 
  • Integrate authorization and medication access processes into scheduling to reduce treatment delays and improve time to treatment. 
  • Lead enterprise demand forecasting, capacity planning, and network optimization to maximize access, throughput, and resource utilization. 
  • Monitor and improve key performance metrics, including time to treatment, schedule utilization, authorization turnaround, and access delays. 
  • Partner with finance and pharmacy to align access strategies with financial performance, revenue integrity, and resource stewardship. 
  • Lead process improvement, data analytics, and technology initiatives to enhance efficiency, automation, and operational performance. 
  • Collaborate with physicians, operational leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure consistent and coordinated care delivery. 
  • Lead, mentor, and develop teams responsible for infusion access and scheduling operations, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.


REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in healthcare operations, including at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSE OR REGISTRATION:

  • Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), Lean Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt), or Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) preferred
  • Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) or Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) preferred

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS OR ABILITIES:

  • Deep understanding of ambulatory end to end access pathways.
  • Knowledge of capacity planning, throughput optimization, and demand forecasting models
  • Understanding of healthcare financial drivers, including revenue cycle implications, margin optimization, and cost of care considerations. Ability to evaluate the impact of access on revenue, cost, and overall financial impact. 
  • Familiarity with multi-site healthcare operations and the complexities of standardization across regions.
  • Strategic thinking and execution: ability to translate organizational goals into scalable access strategies across complex networks. 
  • Cross functional leadership: skilled at influencing and aligning clinical, pharmacy, and operational leaders without direct authority. 
  • Data driven decision making: Advanced ability to analyze performance data, identify trends, and drive actionable improvements. 
  • Change management: Skilled in leading organizational change, gaining buy-in, and sustaining adoption across diverse teams.
