The Mission of Immaculate Conception of Dardenne Catholic School is empowering students, through love and virtue, to develop their Catholic faith, their intellect, and a community of one Spirit in Christ Jesus.
School Profile
Founded in 1880, Immaculate Conception Parish School and Preschool serves more than 480 families and over 820 students. The school employs more than 100 dedicated staff members, including administrators, office personnel, classroom teachers, resource teachers, special area teachers, teacher aides, and support staff. Immaculate Conception School fosters a “community of one Spirit in Christ Jesus,” dedicated to fulfilling the mission of Catholic education within the Archdiocese of St. Louis while serving the spiritual, academic, and developmental needs of its students and families.
Immaculate Conception School is seeking a faith-filled and dedicated educator to join our faculty. Under the supervision of the Principal, the Teacher is responsible for fostering the intellectual, spiritual, social, emotional, and physical development of students in a Christ-centered learning environment.
The successful candidate will be committed to academic excellence, student growth, and Catholic values while creating engaging learning experiences that meet the diverse needs of learners. The teacher will collaborate with colleagues, communicate effectively with families, and contribute positively to the school community.
This is a salaried, exempt position governed by an annual employment agreement.
Job Responsibilities
Mission and Faith Formation
- Actively support and advance the mission of Immaculate Conception Catholic School as a member of “a community of one Spirit in Christ Jesus.”
- Serve as a Christian role model by living the teachings of the Catholic Church and demonstrating Gospel values in daily interactions.
- Integrate Catholic teachings, faith formation, and virtue development into classroom instruction and school life.
- Foster an environment that promotes the growth of the whole child—spiritually, academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.
Instruction and Student Learning
- Design and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards and learning objectives.
- Deliver effective instruction that addresses a variety of learning styles, abilities, and student needs.
- Create a classroom environment that promotes active learning, critical thinking, collaboration, and student engagement.
- Monitor and assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments.
- Utilize assessment data to inform instruction and support student achievement and growth.
Classroom Environment and Management
- Maintain a safe, orderly, clean, and welcoming classroom environment.
- Establish consistent classroom routines and procedures that maximize instructional time and encourage student independence.
- Implement positive classroom management strategies that promote self-regulation, responsibility, respect, and confidence.
- Support the emotional and physical well-being of students while maintaining high expectations for behavior and academic performance.
Family and Community Engagement
- Build strong partnerships with families through regular, timely, and professional communication.
- Share student progress, accomplishments, and concerns with parents and guardians in a constructive and collaborative manner.
- Encourage family involvement in student learning and school activities.
- Serve as a positive representative of Immaculate Conception School within the parish and broader community.
Collaboration and Professional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administrators to promote student success and ensure cohesive instruction.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, school events, and faith-based activities.
- Contribute to a positive school culture by fostering respectful and supportive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct in accordance with school and Archdiocesan policies.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, Middle School Education, or a related field required.
- Valid state teaching certification required.
- Mathematics certification or specialization preferred.
- Practicing Catholic preferred and supportive of the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Strong instructional, organizational, communication, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with administration, faculty, students, and families.
