BAM UK & Ireland are seeking an experienced and collaborative Pre-Construction Manager to lead the delivery of Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) activities across the Sector. Working closely with clients, project teams and key stakeholders, you will oversee the development of innovative, value-driven solutions that support successful project outcomes from the earliest stages.
This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for managing ECI opportunities, coordinating multidisciplinary preconstruction teams, and ensuring resources, processes and governance are aligned to BAM’s strategic objectives.

Making Possible
- Working in close co-operation with the Sector Pre-Construction Lead and Operations Directors to focus on preconstruction activities that meet the Segment and Sector Operational Plan objectives and long-term strategy
- Overseeing the development of preconstruction solutions for emerging opportunities, supporting in building a robust pipeline by pre-positioning ahead of bids and feeding insights into the bid team
- Reviewing all work winning decisions, including frameworks, to ensure strategic alignment and client focus, collaborating with the Segment and Sector preconstruction teams regarding the approach to ECI contracts
- Engaging with the Sector Pre-Construction Lead to resource each Bid and ECI, to enable profitable and sustainable solutions leading to successful project delivery
- Engaging with central Preconstruction Team to source appropriate specialist bid resource
- Supporting Bid Managers and ECI project managers prepare and deliver winning solutions, meeting BAM Baseline and Primary Processes
- From time to time, undertake the Bid Manager/ECI Manager role on strategic bids
- Providing technical input and support to opportunities and ECI delivery, driving the standards and quality of submissions
- Identifying opportunities to cross-sell capabilities between Sectors and Segments
- Acting as the Business Unit representative at Segment Preconstruction meetings
- Engaging with Lead Estimator and Estimating team to ensure cognisance of market trends and stability are accounted for in risk management and budgets
- Support the Sector Pre-Construction Lead and Head of Procurement with developing supply chain and designer strategy and relationships to drive value for money bid and delivery propositions
- Engaging with relevant industry and professional bodies and trade associations to understand future market influences, promote BAM's capabilities and contribute to the development of the divisional key client approach
What do you bring to the role?
- Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline such as Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related construction or engineering field.
- Significant experience in preconstruction, bid management, estimating, project delivery, or work-winning within the construction or infrastructure sector.
- Strong understanding of construction procurement routes, commercial principles, risk management and tendering processes.
- Experience working within the built environment or associated industries
- Experience of leading and managing people and building teams
- Well-developed analytical, oral and presentation/communication skills
- The ability to formulate commercial plans and create engagement and commitment to deliver
- Professional membership (e.g. CIOB, RICS, ICE, APM) is desirable
