Compensation: $35.00 - $45.00 / hour

Key Responsibilities
In accordance with the policies, by-laws and constitution of the YMCA of Greater Boston, the Adaptive Fitness Coach will support the successful execution of the YMCA of Greater Boston’s strategic imperatives to be a charity, partner, and employer of choice for years to come. The Adaptive Fitness coach will create a transformative Y Experience that builds loyal members, energizes employees and volunteers, inspires donors and stimulates growth and innovation.
The Adaptive Fitness Coach will drive success in the following areas of responsibility to support a strong Y
Experience:
• Performance Achievement: Accountable for the program's performance through high engagement with each member as they come into the facility. Accountable for detailed records of each client to ensure a safe and effective fitness experience.
• Customer Service and Experience -- Create a welcoming environment for members, guiding them through the program and integrating them into our fitness floors.
• Direct Service -- Primary job responsibility to engage with members through the program sites. Assist Program Coordinator in building out exercise routines for each participant and ensure compliance and support for everyone. Building connections and communities to increase member retention and engagement
• Customer Service and Experience –Respond immediately to member feedback and any center concerns.
• Operational Effectiveness -- Ensures YMCA of Greater Boston’s standards of excellence around cleanliness and safety are met. Communicate and elevate any safety concerns, facility or equipment maintenance issues to appropriate team members.
• Member Engagement – Utilizes Appointment King to schedule individuals for sessions and ensure they are cared for and supported on each visit. Candidate is willing to adjust to additional scheduling platforms to support members in the program.
• Collaboration -- Work in a collaborative manner with other departments and Center leadership.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
• Associates or Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, or a related field from an accredited college or
university.
• Active, Nationally Accredited Personal Training Certification
• Either have/be willing to obtain an ACSM Adaptive Exercise Certification
• CPR/AED, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen certifications
• At least 1 years’ experience in physical therapy, exercise physiology, or experience with adaptive
populations.
Skills and Competencies:
• Knowledge and experience of training for adaptive populations
• Excellent knowledge of computers, MS Office (Word and Excel) and Internet Explorer.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, problem solve and possess effective time
management skills.
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing environments.
• Knowledge of best practices related to adaptive fitness programs
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully
perform the essential functions of this job.
• Ability to physically and verbally interact with members and staff.
• At times, be able to lift amounts up to 50+ lbs.
Work Environment/Schedule:
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• Some evening work is expected, with the flexibility needed to be available if needed for early mornings,
evenings and holidays.
