WakeMed has three acute care hospitals and a physical rehabilitation hospital for a total of 970-beds. We also have three healthplexes with stand-alone, 24/7 emergency departments and a variety of outpatient services throughout the region. Our physician practices are home to more than 500 physicians representing nearly every specialty.

 

WakeMed is seeking a Medical Director of Trauma Services to provide clinical, operational, research and strategic leadership for the trauma program at WakeMed, Level I Trauma Center (Raleigh).  The general surgery & trauma team at WakeMed currently consists of 26 surgeons, residents and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). Our surgeons provide trauma/emergency general surgery.  This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care for injured patients across the continuum—from pre-hospital through rehabilitation—while maintaining compliance with ACS and state trauma designation standards and advancing performance, research, and prevention initiatives. The director for will be responsible for achieving and ensuring ACS level I trauma accreditation. Position will be structured as .50 FTE administrative and .50 FTE clinical within the general surgery/trauma team.

Previous trauma related leadership experience required, preferably in a community-based hospital setting.
