KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Diagnose and repair electrical issues on: 
    • Draglines (walking systems, hoist/drag motors, control systems) 
    • Electric shovels (crowd, hoist, swing systems)
    • Blast hole drills and auxiliary equipment
  • Maintain and troubleshoot:
    • DC and AC drive systems
    • Motor generator (MG) sets or solid-state drive systems
    • PLC and relay-based control systems 
  • Perform inspections and maintenance on trailing cables, cable reels, and high-voltage connections
  • Work safely on and around high-voltage systems (typically 4,160V – 13.8kV)
  • Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot: o Substations, transformers, switchgear, and breakers
  • Perform switching procedures and assist with energization/de-energization
  • Ensure proper grounding, bonding, and grounding system integrity
  • Conduct scheduled inspections and PMs on:
    • Motors, control cabinets, braking systems, and electrical rooms
  • Identify wear, heat damage, and early failure indicators
  • Utilize testing equipment (megger, infrared, etc.) to prevent failures
  • Install and repair:
    • Cable splices, terminations, and junction boxes
    • Lighting systems, sensors, and communication lines
  • Perform emergency field repairs to restore production quickly and safely
  • Assist in rigging and positioning of cables and electrical components 
  • Document all repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities
  • Report equipment conditions and recurring issues to supervisors
  • Communicate clearly with operations to minimize downtime
